An agrifood veteran has been recruited to be chief executive officer of the fledgling BioProducts Alberta.
Len Bykowski most recently was president of the British Columbia Wine Institute before being tapped for this new role.
The company, which was incorporated earlier this year, will focus on the development of new technology using the byproducts of the energy, forestry and agriculture industries. BioProducts is the result of a collaboration by Calgary-based AVAC Ltd. and Edmonton-based BioAlberta.

Winalta has also hired Carola Daiber as its manager of finance and administration effective Dec. 9.
Based in Edmonton, Winalta is a producer of manufactured homes, modular homes, site-built homes and industrial projects.
Tallagium Corp. has appointed Derek Boniecki to the position of CFO for Tallagium and its wholly owned subsidiaries. He replaces Daniel Clark, who has resigned.
