Air Canada has made a little company history by naming Doug Port its senior vice-president of customer service, based in Calgary.

Port is responsible for airports, in-flight service, call centres and customer solutions as well as being the airline’s senior representative in western Canada. He becomes the first Air Canada senior representative at his level to be based in the West.

Robert Milton, Air Canada’s president and CEO, noted that Port was the company’s former general manager for southern Alberta, and was responsible for running the Toronto hub before being named to his new post.

“This is somewhat of a homecoming for Doug,” said Milton. “Western Canada is a vital part of our network and Doug’s appointment will ensure that the interests of this dynamic region are fully represented.”

Port is being replaced in Toronto by Peter Donolo, Canada’s Consul General in Milan, and former director of communications in the Prime Minister’s Office from 1993 to 1999.
