Trevor Hillman has resigned from the post of board chairman, but will resume his former position as president and chief executive officer. He replaces Gregg Johnson, who has resigned from the Calgary firm.
Hillman founded VHQ (VHQ-TSE) in 1997 and has overseen its expansion into a chain of 49 wholly owned video and home entertainment retail stores.
Donald Garner is the new president and chief executive officer of Prime West Energy Trust.
Company founder Kent MacIntyre, meanwhile, has resigned as vice-chairman and CEO, but will continue on the board of directors of PrimeWest.
The company has also named Tim Granger to the post of chief operating officer. He has been the vice-president of operations and development since June 1999.
PrimeWest (PWI.U-TSX; PWI-NYSE) is a Calgary-based conventional oil and gas royalty trust.
IT solutions provider Cognicase has appointed two key executive employees to its Western Canadian operation: Michael D. Kurtz becomes senior vice-president of Western Canada and Scott A. Lowry becomes vice- president of sales and marketing in Western Canada.
Cognicase says the appointments will allow the company to better execute its vision for this region and the key oil and gas sector. Founded in 1991, Cognicase (COG-TSX, COGI-Nasdaq) is the second-largest independent information technology solutions provider in Canada.
The CFO of Tesco Corporation will retire in April. Martin Hall has served in this capacity since April 1994, and will provide Tesco with consulting services as required during the transition period. Tesco expects to name a new CFO before Hall’s departure.
