Edmonton-based AMC Technologies Corporation has appointed David Hamill as chief executive officer.

Hamill comes with more than 22 years of global
experience in senior executive positions with such companies as IBM, UNISYS and Johnson Controls Inc.

A spinoff from the University of Alberta’s Centre of Engineering Excellence, AMC Technologies offers a range of products for Internet connectivity.

Calgary Technologies Inc. (CTI) has promoted key players and hired new staff to strengthen its technology commercialization and incubation program

Rob Beamish has been named managing director of the technology commercialization and incubation program. In his previous two years with CTI, he helped develop the Concept to Capital program.

Ivan Sierralta has been named innovation centre manager after two years assisting clients in CTI’s Innovation Centre. He also is a board member of the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology (CCAT)
New to CTI is Karen Robinson, who has been named manager of the Concept to Capital program. Most recently Robinson was manager of corporate development for AgriGenomics.

Also joining the team is Carter Kagume, who will serve as a commercialization associate in the Innovation Centre. Currently an MBA student at the University of Calgary, she was previously employed with the National Research Council.

Stephen Whittal has left his post as chief
operating officer with Elite Technical Inc. of Calgary. He is no longer is part of the company’s day-to-day operations, but will continue his involvement as a consultant.

Peter Fenton has assumed the responsibilities until a replacement has been named.

Ken E. Frankiw becomes vice-president engineering. Frankiw was most recently VP engineering with Campion Resources Ltd., which was acquired by Progress Energy Ltd. in June.

James E. Barclay becomes vice-president exploration. Barclay was most recently with Ice Energy Limited as exploration manager.

Todd Lemieux becomes vice-president operations. Lemieux most recently held the position of VP operations with Campion Resources Ltd.

Stephanie Savyn has been named chief
financial officer of Calgary-based Tallagium Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiaries, MegaDox Corporation and Quisitek Corporation.
Savyn has more than 20 years of experience with publicly listed companies, most recently as CFO of SineTec Holdings Corporation.

Doug Black, QC, has joined the Calgary office of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP as a partner and vice-chair. Most recently, he was national managing partner of a national legal firm.

Black is involved in a number of professional and community groups including The Banff Centre, Calgary Opera and the Los Angeles-based Pacific Council on International Policy.
