David Loria joins AVAC as stakeholder relations co- ordinator, while Carol Wang will join the company’s investment team for an eight-month internship.
Loria has worked both in and with the media for more than four years and is currently pursuing a post-degree certificate in marketing at SAIT. Wang joins AVAC from the Westlink Technology Commercialization Internship program.
AVAC is an Alberta-based, not-for-profit private company that invests in agrivalue initiatives.
Ralph Playdon is the new chief executive officer of Edmonton-based Supply Markets Inc.
Most recently, he worked with the Capital Health Authority, where he oversaw Internet and intranet technologies for internal and external clients.
Supply Markets Inc. is a privately-held company that provides e-procurement and business intelligence tracking services.
R. Brenton Driscoll is the new chief financial officer of Calgary-based Wenzel Downhole Tools (WZL-TSX). Driscoll most recently worked as an assurance partner with a major Canadian chartered accounting firm.
AVEVA Group plc has appointed Greg Jonassen to head its new Calgary office. Jonassen joins AVEVA from the plant division of Bentley Systems, where he recently led the sales team for Bentley’s Western Canada clients.
The AVEVA office will serve the plant engineering IT needs of Canada’s onshore and offshore oil and gas, petrochemical, power, and pulp and paper industries.
AVEVA (AVV-LSE), formerly known as Cadcentre, provides engineering IT services in 25 offices around the world. It is based in Cambridge, England.
Colin Jackson, president and CEO of the Epcor Centre in Calgary, has been appointed to Prime Minster Paul Martin’s external advisory committee on cities and communities.
The committee, chaired by former British Columbia premier Mike Harcourt, will provide Martin with recommendations and advice as part of the government’s new deal for Canadian municipalities.
Frederick Kozak is joining the Calgary office of Vancouver-based Haywood Securities as a senior oil and gas research analyst, while Christine Sauriol has been hired as research manager.
Kozak was an equity analyst for the past four years and has spent 13 years in the oil and gas industry as a consultant.
Sauriol is a former surveillance officer with Market Regulation Services Inc.
