Translation service provider BabelFish Corp. of Edmonton has merged with two Ottawa companies and relocated its corporate offices to the capital.
The merger with Living Language Services Inc. and ARVISE Technologies makes BabelFish the largest provider of multilingual services in Canada. Both companies will now operate under The BabelFish Corp. identity as its language training division and localization division, respectively.
The merger is part of the company’s strategy to achieve market dominance, said BabelFish CEO Oscar Jofre Jr.
“The strategy will include having branches in every major Canadian city with further expansion planned for the U.S. We are currently in negotiations to merge/acquire other companies in our industry.”
BabelFish’s total staff with the merger is 38 employees, 75 language teachers and 7,500 certified/accredited translators. The company also has offices in Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Great Britain.
