The federal banking regulator has appointed a 23-year veteran employee as assistant superintendent for regulation. Bob Hanna has been acting in that role at the office of the superintendent of financial institutions (OSFI) since Julie Dickson was appointed acting superintendent in October. She was appointed superintendent last month. The OSFI is the primary regulator and supervisor of federally registered deposit-taking institutions, insurance companies and federally registered private pension plans. Nissan Canada has named Jeff Parent as vice-president of sales and marketing. He joins Nissan with more than 20 years of experience in Canada and the U.S., most recently as director of the northeast region for Volkswagen of America. Nissan Canada's office is in Mississauga.

Direct Energy has announced a number of changes to its North American operations. It was earlier reorganized from a regional structure to four North America-wide lines of business.

Maura Clark has been named president of commercial and industrial energy. She was formerly executive VP for strategy and mergers and acquisitions.

Bill Cronin has been appointed president of wholesale energy. He was formerly president of upstream and energy management.

Robert Huggard is now president of home and business services. He was previously president of Canadian operations.

Phillip Tonge has been named president of mass markets energy. He was formerly president of U.S. operations.

Direct Energy is one of North America's largest energy and energy-related services providers. It is a subsidiary of Centrica PLC, which trades on the London Stock Exchange as CNA. It has offices in Calgary, Toronto and the U.S.

International Nickel Ventures Corp. (TSX:INV) has named Robert Bell as its president and CEO. Jim Clucas, formerly chairman, president and CEO, continues as chairman. Bell is a geologist who spent more than 27 years with Inco Ltd., now CVRD Inco. INV is a Canadian mineral resource company focused on nickel projects in Brazil. Its head office is in Toronto.

David McLaughlin has been named president of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE) by the federal government. McLaughlin has more than 20 years as a senior public-policy professional at both the federal and provincial levels of government and in the private sector. NRTEE is focused on integrating environmental conservation and economic development. Its members are drawn from business, labour, universities, environment groups, Aboriginal communities and municipalities.

(TSX:ATA) has hired James Rowan as president and COO of the automation systems group and promoted 13-year employee Bruce Seeley to the new job of president of automation systems group operations in Europe and Asia. Rowan brings 25 years of experience. Seeley had been interim COO of the automation systems group since June. ATS designs and builds manufacturing solutions for companies in a wide range of industries. Its head office is in Cambridge.
