Michael Longenecker is departing the executive offices of Edmonton-based biotechnology company Biomira Inc.
Longenecker, a founder and chief scientific officer, is retiring after 17 years with the company (BIOM-Nasdaq; BRA-TSE). He will continue in a consulting role, and help establish a company scientific advisory committee.

Mike Scarth has joined Calgary-based SpringBank TechVentures as a fund associate.
Scarth has been involved in the telecommunications industry for more than 15 years in areas including marketing, regulatory, financial analysis, planning and project management.
He is a founder and principal of stuf2 incorporated and prior to that was director of strategic development at MetroNet/AT&T Canada.

APF Energy Inc. – the operating affiliate of APF Energy Trust – has named Steve Cloutier as president.
Cloutier, the company’s chief operating officer, replaces Martin Hislop. Hislop will continue in the role of chief executive officer. Both men are founders of the Calgary-based company. Cloutier has more than 15 years experience in oil and gas, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions.
APF Energy Trust is a conventional oil and gas income fund.

Edmonton-based Altachem Pharma Ltd. is adding new faces to its drug development team.
Selvaraj Naicker and Thomas Woo will play key roles in advancing Altachem’s drug candidates from the pre-clinical stage through human trials.
Naicker – the new senior vice-president of drug development – was previously vice-president of drug development with Isotechnika Inc. and special projects manager at Biomira Inc.
Woo, who takes on the role of vice-president of product development, has been involved in successful clinical trial applications for more than six drug candidates.
