Cangene Corp. (TSX:CNJ) has hired Grant McClarty as VP of research and development, succeeding Wendy Johnson, who is on a long-term medical leave.

McClarty was previously director of biomedical research at the federal National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg, and is also a professor in the department of medical microbiology and infectious disease at the University of Manitoba.

Cangene is an R&D biopharm company founded in and headquartered in Winnipeg.

Ken Loeppky has been named 2007 president of the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA), representing the Canadian commercial real estate industry.

Loeppky has spent 25 years in real estate and is currently VP of research park operations, responsible for two 78-acre science and technology parks in Saskatoon and Regina, as well as a forestry research centre in Prince Albert. He has been actively involved with BOMA Regina for 10 years.

BOMA Canada's VP for 2007 is Ian Stewart of Toronto.

BOMA Canada has more than 2,500 members in regional associations across the country.

Winnipeg-based manufacturer Buhler Industries Inc. (TSX:BUI) says that president Craig Engel has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Ossama AbouZeid, Buhler's CFO since 2004, succeeds Engel.
