Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 8 in Calgary for technology pioneer and businessman Alastair Ross, who died at home last week following an illness.
Ross, 79, helped found the Calgary Research and Development Authority, which is now known as Calgary Technologies Inc., an organization which promotes technology and business development and commercialization.
His name is attached to CTI’s technology incubation centre located in University Research Park.
Ross also served as director for more than 14 corporations, including the Calgary Airport Authority (which he helped establish), the Calgary Petroleum Club, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the Calgary Energy Research Institute.
He leaves six children and 11 grandchildren, as well as his wife and companion for 48 years, Joan Maria.
The family has asked that contributions in his memory be made to the Alastair H. Ross Scholarship Fund at the University of Calgary Business School, c/o Development Office, Craigie Hall, 2500 University Drive N.W., Calgary, T2N 1N4.
