Canadian Oil Sands Trust is appointing Allen Hagerman as chief financial officer of its wholly owned subsidiary Canadian Oil Sands Limited, which manages the trust. The appointment is effective June 1.
Hagerman was most recently VP and CFO of Fording Canadian Coal Trust, playing a key role in that entity’s recent conversion into a trust.
Canadian Oil Sands Trust (COS.UN-TSX) is an open-ended investment trust that generates income from its indirect interest in the Syncrude Joint Venture.
Clark Jacobs is the new customer service manager, production accounting, for Vertex System Resources. Jacobs has 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. Most recently, he was involved in implementing gas and products facilities on the Vertex Production Accounting System.
Vertex is a Calgary-based oil and gas software development company.
George Tai has stepped down as chief operating officer of Zi Corporation (ZIC-TSX; ZICA-Nasdaq) to join a Calgary-based oil and gas firm.
A successor has not been named. Calgary-based Zi Corporation is a technology company that provides interface services for wireless and consumer technologies.
Peter Bresee has been promoted to vice-president of exploration for Resolute Energy Inc. (RSE-TSX). Bresee previously worked for Resolute as exploration manager after the company was formed. More recently, he started an independent company specializing in oil and gas prospect generation. Calgary-based Resolute Energy is an independent oil and gas company pursuing petroleum and natural gas exploration, development and production in Western Canada.
Tony Smith has been appointed director of sales and business development for Carbon Copy Imaging.
Smith has 15 years of experience in the reprographics industry.
Calgary-based Carbon Copy Imaging provides digital and reprographic services.
Two new oil and gas specialists are joining the Calgary offices of Scotia Capital.
Shaun Finnie will join Scotia Capital’s mergers and acquisitions group as a director in June. He has nearly 15 years of experience in the energy sector. Most recently, he was a vice-president with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. Prior to that, he worked with two investment dealers in Calgary.
Greg Pardy has also left Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York to join Scotia’s Calgary team as an oil and gas analyst. Pardy has nine years of sell-side investment experience.
Scotia Capital’s oil and gas and pipeline team provides advisory, equity, debt and lending services.
Veteran Resources Inc. of Calgary is making management changes.
Peter Henry joins the company June 1 as chief financial officer and vice-president. Henry has 16 years of experience in the energy industry, including roles as senior financial officer with TSE-listed oil and gas companies.
David Bardwell will also join the firm next month as vice-president of exploration. An independent geological consultant, Bardwell has 27 years of industry experience.
As well, production vice-president Ivan Wytrychowski has been promoted to the post of vice-president of engineering. He has more than three decades of diversified engineering experience.
Veteran Resources (VTI-TSX Venture) is a Calgary-based junior oil and gas exploration and development company with production operations in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.
