The facility employs 180 people and is equipped with advanced technology and material handling systems necessary to ship more than 10 million cubic feet of product a year to the company’s 140 Canadian Tire stores in Western Canada.
“Canadian Tire has experienced tremendous retail growth this past decade, breaking through the $5-billion mark in retail sales for the first time in the company’s history last year,” said company president and CEO Wayne Sales, adding the increased capacity at the hub will help get product to customers “when and where they need it.”
The centre, which was officially opened last week, is linked to Canadian Pacific Railway’s intermodal lines and will be operated by Genco Distribution Systems on behalf of Canadian Tire.
