Canwest Broadcasting has appointed Kenton Boston to the position of VP of Global National News and Neill Fitzpatrick as Global National's executive producer. Boston was most recently Global National's senior executive producer. Fitzpatrick joins Global National from Global Edmonton where he was most recently news director. Canwest Broadcasting operates two conventional television networks, Global Television and E!, and 20 specialty channels. Canwest Broadcasting is a division of Canwest Media Inc., which itself is a subsidiary of Canwest Global Communications Corp. (TSX:CGS, CGS.A), an international media company with its head office in Winnipeg.

Athabasca Potash Inc. (TSX:API) has appointed James Davidson as chief financial officer, the Saskatoon company says. Davidson brings more than 28 years of accounting experience, and has held various management positions at forestry giant Weyerhaeuser Co. He replaces Gary Billingsley, who left API.

Daystar Financial Group Inc., a managing general agency (MGA) firm, has appointed Alex O'Donnell as senior VP of sales and marketing. O'Donnell will work out of Daystar's Calgary office. He comes from Equitable Life of Canada. Founded in 2002, Daystar is a privately owned, Winnipeg-based MGA that serves more than 1,500 contracted financial advisers across Canada, with offices in Winnipeg, Calgary, Mississauga, London, Lethbridge, Vancouver and Nanaimo.
