Calgary’s upscale Catch restaurant has been proclaimed Canada’s best new restaurant by enroute, Air Canada’s inflight publication.

The magazine chose the downtown seafood eatery – which opened this summer on historic Stephen Avenue Walk – over 29 other new restaurants across Canada in its first annual guide to the best new restaurants.

“From the kitchen to wait staff to sales to administration, the whole team is extremely proud,” said chef Michael Noble, who was wooed to Calgary from Vancouver’s Diva at the Met to help launch the $5.6-million eatery in the renovated Bank of Canada building.

The airline’s magazine consulted with a team of professional food experts including editors, writers and food TV hosts to narrow down the list.

“We are elated to have received this recognition,” said Noble.

Catch is owned and managed by Creative Restaurants Inc., formerly known as Wildwood Restaurant Group. The privately held company operates a variety of establishments in Banff and Calgary, including Catch, WildWood Brewing Co. and Bonterra Trattoria.
