Calgary Economic Development (CED) has named Saad Bashir as its new business development manager for energy. He will focus on helping Calgary energy companies to grow, identify and attract investment to the city. Saad worked most recently with Flextronics.

CED is Calgary's primary economic development agency.

Lynn Sutherland has joined Cybera Inc. as president and CEO. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the ICT sector, most recently as vice-president of programs with Alberta Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE). Outgoing president Ken Hewitt will continue to work for Cybera on a part-time basis, with specific responsibilities for WestGrid and Canarie. Cybera's mandate is to integrate, leverage and sustain Alberta investments in cyberinfrastructure technologies. It has offices at the U of C and the U of A.

Micralyne Inc., a MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical-systems) microfabrication company, has appointed Alan Richards as VP of operations. He replaces Len Friedenberg, who is retiring after more than 20 years with the Edmonton company. Most recently, Richards was VP of operations at SMART Technologies.

Elmer Stewart has resigned as president and COO of Alhambra Resources Ltd. (TSXV:ALH) for personal reasons. He will continue to be a director, technical consultant and the company's qualified person. John Komarnicki, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, assumes the position of president on an interim basis. Stewart has also resigned as president and COO of DOT Resources Ltd. (TSXV:DOT) but will continue to be a DOT director, technical consultant and qualified person. Komarnicki, also chairman and CEO of DOT, becomes president on an interim basis. Alhambra is a gold miner operating in Kazakhstan. DOT, a spinout corporation established through a plan of arrangement from Alhambra, is focused on a copper property in central B.C. Its head office is in Calgary.

Enterra Energy Trust (TSX:ENT.UN, NYSE:ENT) says Keith Conrad, president and CEO, intends to retire in 2008. In other company news, John Chimahusky is joining as VP and COO of U.S. operations, effective Dec. 1. Most recently, he was president of a private production company based in Oklahoma City. Enterra is a conventional oil and gas trust based in Calgary that operates principally in Western Canada and Oklahoma.

Mart Resources, Inc. (TSXV:MMT) has appointed Jay Scott as COO. Scott brings more than 30 years of diverse experience in the oil and gas industry, most recently as COO of PetroLatina. Mart is an independent energy company focused on African oilfields that are proven but have not yet been developed. Its head office is in Calgary.

Paris Energy Inc. (TSXV:PI), formerly Highview Resources Ltd., has added Greg Smith as CFO. He comes to the Calgary company with more than 20 years of experience. The appointment follows the sale of substantially all Paris's oil and natural gas assets earlier this year and the naming of a new management team.

Jamie Urquhart, P.Eng, MBA, has joined Canadian Hydro Developers, Inc. (TSX:KHD) as COO. Ross Keating now becomes president of operations and development. Urquhart worked most recently as a regional VP at an oil and gas infrastructure company. Canadian Hydro is focused on the renewable energy industry, with a portfolio across water, wind and biomass technologies in B.C., Alberta and Ontario. Its corporate office is in Calgary.

Karim Teja, COO of Imaging Dynamics Company Ltd. (TSX:IDL), has resigned for personal reasons. He will maintain a consulting role for the transition. Two new VPs have recently joined IDC: Michael Shannon has been named senior VP of operations and Kevin Meyers has become VP of operations. Shannon brings more than 30 years of experience to IDC, while Meyers was most recently VP of operations at BW Technologies. IDC is a digital radiography company whose technology replaces conventional film-based X-rays. IDC is based in Calgary.

Neil Shelly, the Alberta Forest Products Association's executive director, has left AFPA to pursue other opportunities. Normand Dupuis, a 22-year employee and the association's current director of grade bureau, will be acting executive director. AFPA is a private, non-profit industry organization representing lumber, panelboard, pulp and paper, and secondary manufacturing wood products firms in Alberta. Its office is in Edmonton.
