Calgary-based Wi-LAN Inc. is making changes in the boardroom.
Chief operating officer Sayed-Amr (Sisso) El Hamamsy has become president, replacing Hatim Zaghloul, who will continue as chairman and CEO.
Steven Bellamy has resigned his post as CFO, and has been replaced on an interim basis by finance vice- president Keith Bittner. As well, board member Frank King has been named independent lead director and will oversee corporate governance practices at the company (WIN-TSE).
Wi-LAN provides broadband wireless communications products and technologies.

The Alberta Research Council Inc. (ARC) has appointed Rod Ridley as manager of the new sensors engineering business unit.
Edmonton-based ARC develops and commercializes technologies, providing solutions to a variety of sectors.
Ridley joined ARC in 1979. Most recently he was manager of the flow and sensors technologies business unit. In his new position, Ridley will be responsible for creating a new business, focused on engineering a variety of sensors-based enabling technologies.
Kim Sturgess is the new president and CEO of Tathacus Resources Ltd.
Sturgess was president and CEO of Revolve Magnetic Bearings Inc. and its predecessor, Revolve Technology Inc., for eight years.
She replaces Barrie Shibley, who will assume the role of vice-president of Tathacus (TTC-TSXV) and continue as president of Crucero Resources Ltd., the wholly owned oil and gas subsidiary of Tathacus.

Company CFO Jim Norris, meanwhile, has resigned to pursue other interests.
A replacement has not been named.
An Alberta accounting veteran has been named the first chairman of the new Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), an international organization established to develop and regulate the financial planning profession.
John Carpenter, executive director and CEO of the Certified General Accountants (CGA) of Alberta, will head the new board. The FPSB will oversee the development of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification.
The board is a spinoff from the International CFP Council, which has member organizations in 19 countries and represents 72,000 CFPs across the globe.
Carpenter is past chairman of the Canadian CFP affiliate, the Financial Planners Standards Council, and has led the Alberta CGA group since 1995.
Aquest Explorations Ltd. of Calgary has appointed William McKenzie as its vice-president of exploration.
McKenzie has more than 23 years’ experience in the energy industry in Western Canada. Most recently, he was vice-president of exploration at Tikal Resources.
CCR Technologies Ltd. is looking for a new chief financial officer.
Alan Finley has resigned as the vice-president of finance and CFO to pursue other business opportunities. He will continue to provide consulting services to CCR until a new appointment is made.
CCR Technologies (CRL-TSE) is a technology solutions company focused on the purification of process chemicals and sweetening of sour gas.
