Jayson Myers has been named president of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters. As senior vice-president and chief economist, Myers had led the group's Manufacturing 20/20 initiative, a consultation focusing on challenges and success factors for the manufacturing sector. The CME says it's Canada's largest industry and trade association, accounting for 75 per cent of Canada's industrial output and 90 per cent of Canadian exports.

John Boots, CA, is the new vice-president of finance and administration for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Rogers Centre. Boots was most recently senior VP and chief financial officer of MTI Global Inc. "His experience and breadth of knowledge in the financial world, as well as his great love of the Blue Jays, will serve him well in his new position," Paul Godfrey, president and CEO of the Jays and Rogers Centre, said in a release.

Extendicare Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:EXE.UN) says the senior finance team will handle CFO duties on an interim basis following the sudden passing of Richard Bertrand, its senior VP and CFO. Bertrand joined Extendicare Inc. in 1976. He was appointed senior VP and CFO of Extendicare Inc. in 2004 and subsequently Extendicare REIT in 2006. Anastassia Plitman has been named VP of internal audit and compliance for Kingsway Financial Services Inc. (TSX, NYSE:KFS). Plitman was previously director of the internal audit and controls practice of a major North American consulting firm. She replaces Laura Foster, who has taken a position in the internal audit department of a major bank. Kingsway's primary business is trucking insurance and the insuring of automobile risks for drivers who do not meet the criteria for coverage by standard automobile insurers. Ron Neumann has joined Waterloo Region Technology Association Communitech's executive-in-residence mentorship program for startups. Neumann joins Carol Leaman, CEO-in-residence, who was appointed as the first such mentor at Communitech earlier this year. At full capacity, the program will have up to three C-level executives working out of the Communitech offices on a part-time basis. Communitech is an industry-led association driving the growth and success of Waterloo Region's tech sector.
