Corus Entertainment Inc. (TSX:CJR.B, NYSE:CJR) says president and CEO John Cassaday will assume the role of interim operator at Corus Radio in early September. The move comes as current operator John Hayes prepares to leave his position on Aug 31. As well, Doug Murphy will join Corus-owned Nelvana as executive VP and general manager. Mario Cecchini, Chris Pandoff, Doug Rutherford and Bryan Ellis will become VPs for Quebec, Ontario, the West and planning, respectively. Scott Dyer becomes chief technology officer. Corus is a media and entertainment company with its executive office in Toronto and corporate office in Calgary.
Wood Composite Technologies Inc. (TSXV:WCT) has named Paul Thompson to the newly created position of VP of production for its decking manufacturing subsidiary company, Millennium Decking Inc. Thompson joins the company with more than 30 years of extrusion production experience. Based in Nisku, WCT utilizes recycled post-industrial materials in products marketed by its subsidiary.
Cirrus Energy Corp. (TSXV:CYR) has appointed Glenn Gradeen as COO. Most recently he was CEO of Berkana Energy Corp., a position he held until that company was sold in January 2008. Concurrent with this appointment, Gradeen has resigned as a member of the board. Cirrus is an international oil and gas company headquartered in Calgary.
Bow Valley Energy Ltd. (TSX:BVX) has engaged Leigh Cassidy as CFO starting Aug. 18. Most recently, from 2005-2007, Cassidy was the executive chairman and CEO of Signet Energy Inc. prior to that company being acquired by a competitor. Bow Valley is an oil and natural gas company with operations in the U.K. sector of the North Sea and Alaska. Its head office is in Calgary.
Reef Resources Ltd. (TSXV:REE) has hired a new CFO. Tariq Malik brings 25 years of financial experience in Canada, U.S.A., Europe and the Middle East to the Calgary company. Reef explores for and develops conventional crude oil and natural gas reserves in Ontario and Western Canada.
Evoco Inc. has promoted Alice Reimer to president. Since co-founding Evoco Inc. in 1999, Reimer has acted in numerous executive positions, most recently as VP of services. Evoco provides project and program management software for the retail, restaurant and hospitality industries, as well as commercial and residential developers. It is headquartered in Calgary.
Cordy Oilfield Services Inc. (TSXV:CKK) says Robert Gillies has resigned as CFO but will continue to provide certain consulting services during the transition period. Everett Barnes, the Calgary corporation's manager of financial reporting, is acting as interim CFO. Cordy owns businesses in Alberta and B.C. in the construction, environmental, manufacturing and pipeline sectors.
Steven Vasey has resigned as president, CEO and a director of VGS Seismic Canada Inc. (TSXV:VGS).
Richard White, a member of the board, will act as interim president and CEO. Also departing are COO Dale Harger and Christine St. Clair, VP of operations. Based in Calgary, VGS markets digital seismic data for licensing to oil and natural gas exploration companies.
Guardian Exploration Inc. (TSXV:GX) has appointed Michael Costello as CFO. Costello brings more than 20 years of experience in financial executive, professional and consultative roles. Guardian is a Calgary-based firm engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of resource properties.
WellPoint Systems Inc. (TSXV:WPS) has a new CFO. Bharat Mahajan was most recently director of business development for Cosma International. WellPoint Systems provides software and related services for managing critical operations within the energy industry. Based in Calgary, WellPoint also has major operations in Houston, Denver, Bogota and London, England.
James Hill, president and COO of HSE Integrated Ltd. (TSX:HSL), has assumed the position of acting CFO. Calgary-based HSE says Tony Hidalgo, the former CFO, has left to pursue other career opportunities. HSE is one of Canada's largest national industrial safety services company with operations in Western, Central and Atlantic Canada.
Grant Hall, VP of corporate development for Western Warrior Resources Inc. (TSXV:WWR), has resigned to pursue other interests. Western Warrior is a Calgary-based, multi-commodity, mineral exploration company with properties in Ontario, Manitoba and Valdez, Alaska.
Antrim Energy Inc. (TSX:AEN) has named Douglas Olson as its CFO.
Olson was most recently VP of finance of an income trust. He replaces Anthony Potter, who will provide services as needed during the transition. Antrim is a Calgary-based junior oil and gas exploration and production company with assets in the U.K. North Sea and Argentina.
Oil and gas recruitment specialist Petroplan Control Systems Ltd. has appointed Joan Page as VP of Petroplan Canada. She brings more than 20 years of senior management in the recruitment and staffing industry, most recently with Ian Martin Ltd.
Petroplan's headquarters are in Guildford, Surrey, U.K., with branches worldwide, including Calgary.
Edmonton Economic Development Corp. (EEDC) has added two new recruits to its senior management team. Mona Hale is EEDC's new VP and CFO. Prior to joining EEDC, she was the VP of finance and controller for Prairie Mines & Royalty Ltd. (formerly Luscar Ltd.).
Candace Brinsmead is EEDC's new VP of technology advancement. This is a new position created to develop and expand Edmonton Research Park. Brinsmead will also serve as EEDC's principal liaison with TEC Edmonton. She comes to EEDC from the Alberta Research Council where she was director of strategic investments and deployment.
