Country Log Caskets isn’t about bodies being buried in large hollowed-out logs – a.k.a. log coffins, an ancient form of burial.
Patty Kramps’ creations are something completely different. Her coffins are standard-sized modern caskets that happen to be built with fallen logs. The result is something stunningly original – and very heavy.

A search of the Internet using the words “log caskets” will turn up only one company, and that is Kramps’ little business – meaning it could be the only endeavour like it in the world.
Country Log Caskets is still a relatively young company, and Kramps sells an average of five per year. The prices range from about $2,000 to $3,000 per coffin.
Kramps’ customers come from far and wide, and they often find her via the Internet. Like most of the businesses on this list, Kramps makes a fair chunk of her revenue from customers south of the 49th parallel. It’s a tough business, with competition coming from the established funeral proprietors.
