Jim Dinning has left TransAlta effective Dec. 31, 2004. The company says it has no immediate plans to fill his former position of executive vice-president.
The former Alberta treasurer became chairman of Western Financial Group last September, moving up from vice-chairman. He also sits on the boards of a number of companies.

Flint Energy Services Ltd. has appointed veteran energy services executive Bill Lingard as the company's new president and chief executive.
Flint said Lingard will replace Brian Butlin, who has retired.
Lingard comes to Flint after 22 years of experience in the North American energy services sector, most recently as chief operating officer of Nabors Canada LP.
Flint (TSX:FES) provides midstream oil and gas production services from 41 operating locations throughout Western Canada and the southern and midwestern United States.
Ian Morris, formerly vice-president of finance and chief financial officer, has left The Churchill Corp.
The functions of the CFO's office have been reorganized under the direction of Harry King, chairman of the audit committee. Controller DeEtte Mack will take on additional duties related to treasury functions and have expanded responsibilities in corporate control.
Hank Reid, interim CEO, will assume a more direct role in corporate financing and investor relations in addition to his CEO responsibilities.
The Churchill Corp. (TSX:CUQ) provides building construction, industrial construction and maintenance services throughout Western Canada.
Westaim Corp. has named Nicolas Khoury as president of its subsidiary IFire Technology Corp.
Khoury will take over from Anthony Johnston, who will remain as a senior vice- president at Westaim and will continue to play a senior role at IFire. Prior to joining IFire - which makes flat-screen technology for use in televisions, monitors and other products - Khoury was president of OFS Fitel LLC, the fibreoptics division of the Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd. of Japan.
Westaim is a Calgary-based technology accelerator.
Dianne Bond has assumed the newly created position of regional vice-president of Western Canada for Right Management Consultants, Inc. Based in Calgary, Bond is responsible for leading the business development and marketing efforts within the prairie provinces. Previously she worked in a business development role for Right Management Consultants Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Manpower Inc.
