A cross-Canada search has yielded an Edmontonian as new vice-president finance and chief financial officer for Edmonton Airports.

Ralph Peterson, a former partner from Pricewaterhouse- Coopers, took up his new duties earlier this week.

Edmonton Airports is a not-for-profit organization that manages local airport assets on behalf of the Capital Region.

Technology accelerator Westaim Corp.’s senior vice-president since 1996 has moved into the company’s top spot.

Barry Heck becomes president and CEO effective immediately, replacing Kevin Jenkins.

Prior to joining Westaim (WED-TSX), Heck was VP, general counsel and corporate secretary of Viridian Inc.

Calgary-based Westaim Corporation’s technology investments include NUCRYST Pharmaceuticals and iFire Technology.

The CEO, president and COO of TGS North American Real Estate Investment is stepping down for health reasons.

W. Judson Martin will remain a member of the board of trustees and as chairman of its investment committee, and will continue to advise the management team of TGS REIT.

The board has appointed Arthur Lloyd as president and COO. Lloyd previously held the position of executive vice-president, acquisitions and dispositions and asset manager.

The board of trustees has begun a search for a full-time CEO. Calgary-based TGS REIT is an unincorporated, open-end real estate investment trust with a portfolio of commercial income-producing properties.

Calgary-based Eyelogic Systems Inc. is preparing for an executive transition.

Effective Jan. 31, Mark McDonald will become president and chief operating officer. He will replace G. D. (Gord) McDonald, who is retiring after leading the firm as president and COO.

Gord will remain with the company in an advisory capacity and as a director of the board.

Mark was formerly vice-president of marketing. Mary Anne Elias has been appointed the new VP of marketing for Eyelogic. She was formerly director, customer relations.

Eyelogic Systems Inc. sells and rents ophthalmic equipment.
