Scott Clements is stepping down as president and CEO of Edmonton Airports.

Clements, who headed the aviation agency for nearly 10 years, announced last week he will retire at the end of this year. A search for his replacement is under way.

He served on a variety of boards and agencies including the Canadian Airports Council, Airports Council International-North America, the Western Transportation Advisory Council (WESTAC) and Aviation Alberta.

Former federal finance minister Don Mazankowski has joined the Calgary office of Gowlings.

Mazankowski spent 25 years as a Progressive Conservative member of Parliament from Alberta and was minister of finance, transport and agriculture. He sits on numerous corporate boards including Power Corp., Weyerhaeuser, Canada Life and Shaw Communications.

Gowlings is a national law firm with more than 700 staff.

Carol Mallabone is the new CFO and vice-president of Calpine Canada Power Ltd.

She replaces John Nearing, who is leaving the Calgary-based firm following the sale of Calpine Corp.’s Canadian oil and gas assets.

Mallabone was previously director of tax of Calpine Canada.

Calpine Canada Power Ltd. manages the Calpine Power Income Fund, an unincorporated open-ended trust that invests in electrical power assets.

Kelly Grimes is the new VP of sales and marketing for CDK Services Ltd.

Grimes has 25 years of sales and management experience, primarily in the oilfield services industry. He has held a variety of roles in his four years with Calgary-based CDK, an oilfield services company.

Advantage Energy Income Fund has promoted Weldon M. Kary to the position of vice- president of exploitation.

Kary has been with Advantage since its inception on May 23, 2001, most recently as manager of geology and geophysics. He has more than 26 years of experience in the oil and gas exploration and development sector.

Advantage is a conventional oil and natural gas income fund based in Calgary.

Douglas Thomson is the new chief financial officer for Edmonton-based EquiTech Corp.

Thomson has extensive experience in senior financial and management roles for a variety of industries. He is also an elected member and officer on the governing council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.

EquiTech is a specialty pharmaceutical company.

Calgary-based Peregrine Energy Ltd. has appointed Edward Marcinew to the position of vice-president, exploration. Marcinew brings more than 20 years of energy industry experience. Previously he was VP of exploration for the past two years at a Canadian public junior oil and gas producer.

Devlan Exploration Inc. of Calgary has named Garry Hides to the post of vice-president, land and business development.

Hides is a professional landman with more than 20 years of diversified land and negotiations experience, both domestically and internationally.

He previously worked seven years with Petrobank Energy and Resources, most recently as VP of land.

Devlan is engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil, natural gas and liquids in Western Canada.
