Patrick Daniel, an active volunteer in the energy industry and community, has been named president and chief executive officer of Calgary-based Enbridge Inc.

Daniel has spent 30 years in the upstream and pipeline sectors, including 12 years at Enbridge where he held numerous executive positions, most recently president and chief operating officer.

Daniel has served in leadership roles with agencies such as the Alberta Chamber of Resources, the Energy Council of Canada and the Conference Board of Canada. He is also Calgary campaign chair for the Edmonton Hospitals Council of Foundations campaign.

Enbridge (ENB–TSE, ENBR–NASDAQ) is a leading player in energy transportation, distribution and services.

Gael MacLeod is the new chair of the Calgary Community Lottery Board, taking over the post from Daryl Fridhandler.

Other members of the new executive for the 2001 granting season included vice-chair Rose Herard, treasurer Ted Bowers and secretary Bert Boulet.

Dr. Bruce Ravelli has also joined the CCLB as its newest board member. Retiring from the board is Greg Matwichuk.

CCLB funds support project initiatives in community services, arts and culture, education, libraries, environment, parks, recreation, sports, health and social services. Cybersurf Corp. has appointed Liliane Vidicek its vice-president of sales and marketing.

Vidicek, described as a specialist in evaluating areas of untapped sales and profit potential, spent the previous 17 years with companies such as Omni, The Globe and Mail and the Financial Times.

Most recently she was with 24/7 Media Canada (formerly Click Through Interactive).

Cybersurf (CY–CDNX) says Vidicek is the key person to work in conjunction with its 3Web technology.

U.S.-based Right Management Consultants Inc. has announced the appointments of two senior managers with responsibility for sales and marketing in the Alberta region.

Dianne Bond will serve the company as senior vice-president of business development, while John Stoll is the director of client services.

Bond has spent more than 20 years in the human resources and adult education fields. Stoll also has 20 years of experience in HR and financial services.

Donald Chapman last week resigned as a director of NetDriven Solutions Inc. (TSE–NDS).

Chapman is a former president of NTI Newspaper Technologies Inc. Net Driven Solutions manages the storage and online delivery of exploration data for major oil and gas companies.

Jean-Roch Vachon, a former grocery executive, has joined the board of directors at Canada’s Choice Spring Water Inc. (CHW–CDNX).

Based in Phoenix, Vachon replaces Earl White, who recently resigned his position.

Vachon spent 25 years in the retail industry. He has been president and CEO of Metro-Richelieu, president and COO of Steinberg Inc. and chairman of MyButler.com where he developed online applications for grocery retailers.

Laura Larsen, a veteran marketing expert, has been named marketing and sales vice-president of ReloCare Inc.

ReloCare, a wholly owned subsidiary of AxisPort Inc. (XP–CDNX), is preparing to offer benefits packages for employees of major corporations across North America. The corporate benefit programs will provide employees buying or selling homes referrals to the best service providers.

Larson was most recently VP of marketing with SMED International.

Zinnian Technologies Inc. (ZIN–CDNX) has announced the election of three members to its board of directors following its annual shareholders’ meeting last week. Ken Small has been elected president and secretary, after previously resigning from the board. Harold Alsopp and Hugh Campbell join him.

Ronald Shefchuk and Douglas Chisholm had originally intended to run for the board of Zinnian, a junior capital pool company, but withdrew their names from the ballot before the meeting.

Three independent directors have been named to the board of China Broadband Corp.

Ian Aaron, John Brooks and Richard Hurwitz were added the existing three-member board to add diverse experience and leadership to the company as it expands its high-speed cable Internet deployment in China.

The company, through its subsidiary, Big Sky Network, forms co-operative joint ventures with municipal governments which own local cable television stations. Aaron is president and CEO of TVN Entertainment Corp., a digital distribution services company. Brooks is a telecommunications entrepreneur who co-founded Brooks Fiber Properties, a provider of local and long distance telecommunications across 44 U.S. states.

Hurwitz is a financier and is a partner with Bancorp Services LLC, a team of nationally recognized consultants providing structured investments directed to financial institutions.

Longtime employee Bill MacDonald has been appointed senior vice-president of operations for Shaw Cablesystems.

MacDonald has worked the past 18 years for Shaw Communications Inc. in sales, customer service, training and human resources and was most recently senior VP, human resources.

MacDonald will be responsible for overseeing Shaw’s cable operations and cable related services, including Shaw@Home.
