It's an ironic but indisputable fact: One of the most dynamic sectors in the world of business is also one of the most conservative. Veterans of the energy industry are among the shrewdest players on the block. Yet, they're slow to embrace change until they're absolutely convinced there's a need.
Well, the time has come. Two experienced, capable and knowledgeable technicians in the business have revealed a double-barreled service product that has the potential to provide substantial economic and environmental benefits to the oil and gas industry. It is also encouraging to attest that many of Alberta's oil and gas producers are expressing their interest to see it in action. They are very impressed with the opportunities to not only create production efficiencies but to also create these efficiencies with vastly reduced environmental disturbance.
The company: EnerCoil Resources Incorporated of Calgary, an emerging oil and gas service company that offers its customers a combination of Low Impact Amphibious Equipment (LAE) and Coiled Tubing equipment.
EnerCoil President/CEO Ken Gordey describes it as a marriage of two distinct technologies.

The principals: Ken Gordey is a Canadian pioneer who's been working on the development of coiled tubing products since the 1970s. His colleague is Brad Tonita (VP and Chief Operating Officer), who has worked with environmentally friendly amphibious equipment in South America, China and the Gulf of Mexico for more than 20 years.
"Oil and gas companies are experiencing major difficulties sourcing and coordinating all the services they need for operation. We can assist them and remove the frustration and headaches they are experiencing within these processes," explains Ken Gordey. Mr. Gordey is a senior professional with 32 years of experience in the energy/service industries, both international and domestic. "We will provide the oil and gas industry the opportunity to level load and bring their costs into line as we are not restricted to working in the winter only," he enthuses. "Think about that for a moment. When we work up north, we can take advantage of 22 hours of daylight every day."
That's absolutely correct. Production and drilling areas previously accessible only in winter months can now be entered and worked with confidence, as well as with an absolute minimum of environmental impact. With LAE, access to the field during wet spring, summer and fall months will no longer be a barrier.
These proven amphibious machines provide an environmentally safe and economic solution to transport services in remote access and environmentally sensitive areas are on a year round basis. A 365-day season in Northern environmentally sensitive regions can now be a reality.
"These strategies also apply to urgent situations. If you have a safety issue, a burst pipeline, any situation that requires emergency access to remote locations, we can provide it for you," stated the company President.
Meanwhile, EnerCoil's super-efficient Coiled Pipeline Systems represent an environmentally friendly, safe and economic alternative for well-testing, production and fluid transfer. That includes temporary pipelines, permanent pipelines and retrievable pipelines.
By combining these two cutting edge but proven technologies, EnerCoil can promise to minimize the impact on sensitive environments via specialized routing techniques and an ability to easily retrieve pipeline mechanisms once a given well has been depleted.
Ken Gordey, Brad Tonita and the EnerCoil team believe their products represent a revolutionary step forward. And the evidence backs them up. "We're bringing in technology which will allow 365-day access to muskeg environments with negligible impact," elaborates Brad Tonita. "These methods are demonstrably effective ... and hugely friendly. Low Impact Amphibious Equipment is frequently used around the world in swampy regions."
Manufactured in Louisiana, these well-designed, tank-like, tracked amphibious excavators and drilling units are remarkable workhorses, capable of carrying payloads from 1,000 to 40,000 pounds with ease. Yet, even fully loaded, they exert minimal ground pressure. They're equally effective in muskeg, pipeline right of ways, grasslands and even lakes.
"Together, these two technologies have the ability to take the oilpatch to a whole new level of efficiency. "We can install pipelines and provide services year round. We have a pipeline system that eliminates the need for flaring. Oil and gas companies are seeking development and service options which provide advantageous economies of scale and governments are seeking cost effective and environmentally beneficial methods for Northern resource development. This is a win/win opportunity for both industry and government" stated Mr. Gordey.
EnerCoil's depth of expertise is remarkable. The skilled workforce can lay a pipeline right on the surface, either to conduct well tests or to transfer fluids from the wellsite. "Then when the pipeline is no longer required we can recover it," the CEO explained.
Several of the major oil and gas companies operating in Western Canada have already expressed serious interest and are in discussions with company representatives. Many mid-sized and junior operators are also coming aboard.
After laying the required groundwork, EnerCoil is poised to bring its cost-effective and environmentally advantageous vision to the market. It's right there in the mission statement: EnerCoil's mission is to use technology and innovation and the policy of "environment and safety first," while providing the industry with a superior service company.
