They were in the market for innovative oil and gas software products. So, when senior executives at Entero Corporation came across a new oil and gas reserves engineering program known as Mosaic, they took a long hard look.
When the investigation was complete, Entero president Steve Remmington was impressed with the product vision and the team, so he and his partners bought the company that developed it.
And now after contributing its expertise to the redevelopment of Mosaic, Entero is marketing this software under its own brand as evMosaic. "It's been a terrific fit," says Remmington.
"Our system is used by engineers, evaluators and corporate planners to efficiently evaluate, forecast and track performance of wells, properties and companies," explains Mike Lake, VP of the Mosaic Business Unit.

"When we first commercialized Mosaic we had a strong vision for where we wanted the product to go. We quickly won over a core group of very strong supporters that consistently validated our vision. Our biggest challenge was that we knew we had to completely rewrite our software to achieve the vision. So, within a year of commercializing the original Mosaic product, we decided to bet the farm and set to developing evMosaic within Entero."
That was two years ago. evMosaic has been in production for six months and is quickly making an impact in the market.
Lake is proud of his team. "I'm clearly biased, but I think we offer our customers the best customer support and development expertise on top of offering the best Evaluation and Reserve Management product in the market today."
Entero is focused on helping people perform better. Lake says: "In a world relying on technology to continuously generate greater productivity, our software product is not the end game for us. We have to deliver efficiency, speed and accurate information. To achieve our goal, we need to provide exceptional customer service in addition to an exceptional product. The first ensures the long-term success of the latter."
A high calibre of service is important to the evMosaic team. They feel it all comes down to empathy. As Lake puts it: "Most of us in our business unit have spent a lot of hours sitting on the other side of the fence - as users. We understand the situation our users are in, we understand the time pressures they face, we understand their need for absolute accuracy. And so we're compelled to help them."
An example of Entero's dedication to customer service is its database conversion services. Lake states: "It's a distinct advantage to any evMosaic users going into data rooms to review acquisitions. Within a few days to a week, we can have any database - whether it's from an engineering company or any legacy system - converted into evMosaic and ready for the user to evaluate their prospective acquisition. Users get to focus their efforts on analysis rather than data entry."
evMosaic aims to combine user-friendliness and breadth of functionality - often mutually exclusive characteristics in software products. The package deals with operations evaluations, reserves management and acquisition analysis, on top of budgeting and performance tracking.
The new design of evMosaic provides users with interfaces tailor made for specific processes. Lake explains: "While there is a lot of commonality between the processes that evMosaic supports, there are also key differences. To accommodate those differences, we developed a flexible interface that allowed us to create what we call 'workbenches'. The workbench concept gives our users a 5-in-1 tool with all the features and the ease of use of a point solution."
Entero is also setting new standards in the level of integration users can achieve without the cost of traditional integration tools. "In a typical customer we would see a number of point solutions feeding up to an integration package that feeds into a data warehouse with a reporting tool. Basically, three layers of cost and support. Or they are manually transferring data to spreadsheet sub-systems to generate reports."
With evMosaic, the user can synch and report information from public data, reservoir simulations, field capture data, and accounting data. Lake is convinced "... no other system provides the same breadth of functionality and integration. It's a major source of efficiency and cost savings for our customers. It all adds up to more effective analysis."
Easy to install and operator-friendly were key goals in the recent redevelopment. "New evMosaic users are able to get comfortable after only a morning of expert training," says Lake.
For startups, midsize companies and senior players, evMosaic is designed to cover all the bases for operations evaluations, reserves management, acquisition assessments, budgeting and performance tracking.
