City of Calgary officials are warning of restrictions next week as the G8 Summit gears up in southern Alberta.

Officials say Calgary residents and visitors will face restrictions to airport access, downtown parking, LRT service and access to the TELUS Convention Centre. The summit of world leaders runs June 26-27 in Kananaskis, but heavy security and other measures will be in effect across downtown and at the airport.

A summary of G8-related restrictions includes the following:

* From 5 a.m. June 25 to 2 a.m. June 28, prepare for vehicle delays near the airport. Motorists are asked to add 30 minutes to their travel time. The Airport Trail will be closed at Deerfoot Trail and Barlow Trail access points. Motorists approaching the airport from the south are advised to use McKnight Boulevard and Barlow Trail; from the north use Country Hills Boulevard/112th Avenue N.E. and Barlow Trail.

* Northbound and southbound McCall Way will be closed to all vehicles at the intersections of McCall Landing
(northbound) and 78th Avenue N.E. (southbound). The only exceptions are emergency services personnel and Calgary Transit Route 57 (delays expected at checkpoints). Aero Road access will also be restricted.

* The Park & Jet facility, near the intersection of Airport Trail and Barlow Trail, will remain accessible to motorists via Barlow Trail. At the airport itself,
unattended vehicles left curbside at the arrivals and departures levels will be towed.

* The Calgary Parking Authority will restrict access to downtown parking lots between 5 a.m. June 21 and the morning hours of June 30. No overnight parking will be permitted in any downtown CPA lot; any vehicle left after the posted closing time will be towed. The CPA parkade at the Telus Convention Centre will be closed from June 23-June 29. The McDougall and Civic Plaza parkades will be open for monthly parkers only during that week, and McDougall will be completely closed on June 23.

* The C-Train will not stop at the TELUS Convention Centre and the platform will be closed. A number of Plus-15 walkways will also shut down.

* Public access to the municipal complex (city hall, municipal building, administration building and public building) will be restricted from June 21-June 27. Public access to the municipal building will be limited to the Plus 15 entrance at the south end of the atrium. The public will only be allowed in the building from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on June 24-27.
