Last week, Business Edge reported on businesses in Alberta helping victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Here’s an update.
Tag Goulet, of Fabjob.com wrote: “Thank you for the uplifting article in Business Edge about what businesses are doing to help victims of the attacks.
“Fabjob.com is donating 100 per cent of proceeds from sales of our “Become a Firefighter” e-book to New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. (Proceeds go to the families of the fallen firefighters from the World Trade Center disaster.)
“Thank you for what you are doing to encourage and support businesses to contribute to those in need.”
Meanwhile, The Wildwood Restaurant Group and its staff announced that they raised $2,277.28 for the Red Cross to help victims of the attack.
Employees at the group’s restaurants — including The Wildwood Grill, Bonterra Restaurant, Florentine Restaurant, 4th Street Rose and Shileighle’s Pub in Calgary and the Rose and Crown in Banff — donated tips and some of their wages.
Internet-based get-well card provider Hospitalhello.com is offering free cards and hospital delivery for family and friends of victims of the attacks.
The company, which has its Canadian headquarters in Calgary, said all hospitalhello.com cards destined for hospitals in the New York City and Washington, D.C. area will be delivered free.
The company offers next-day delivery of paper get-well cards from its website at www.hospitalhello.com
“It’s a huge tragedy, and we’re just trying to make a difference in a small but meaningful way,” said CEO Bill Lister.
In lieu of payment, the company encourages customers to contribute to the American Red Cross at www.redcross.org or the United Way of New York City at www.uwnyc.org
