Senior appointments have been announced for a Toronto health-science holding company and two of its wholly owned subsidiaries. Jerry Nolfi has been appointed senior VP for business development at Veris Health Sciences. A practising optometrist, he has been a clinical and strategic consultant for vision-care companies. John McCahill has been appointed president of Veris Aesthetics. McCahill brings 14 years of marketing and business development experience, most recently as general manager of Canadian operations for Inamed Corp.

Jean-Maurice St.Onge becomes VP of Veris Medical Research, responsible for establishing protocols and a research framework for Veris Ocular Sciences and Veris Aesthetics. He has more than 22 years of experience in the management of clinical trials. Veris Health Sciences develops and provides services related to the effects of aging, with a focus on ophthalmology and esthetic medicine.

OccuLogix Inc. (NASDAQ:RHEO, TSX:RHE) has named Steve Parks as vice-president of sales. Parks succeeds Joseph Zawaideh, who will remain with the company in a sales and business development capacity. Parks joins OccuLogix from the position of VP of sales at Advanced Medical Optics Inc. OccuLogix is a health-care company with its head office in Mississauga.

Kodiak Energy, Inc. (OTCBB:KDKN) has named Mark Hlady as CEO and Bill Tighe as COO.

Hlady spent three terms in the Alberta legislature from 1993 to 2004, serving as a member of energy-related committees.

Tighe has more than 28 years in operations for both Canadian and international oil companies.

Kodiak Energy is to open offices in Calgary this month.

Nissan North America has named Mark Grimm as the new president of Nissan Canada Inc., succeeding Brad Bradshaw, who is becoming a vice-president and general manager at Nissan North America.

Grimm is currently regional VP for the Nissan northeast region and has more than 20 years' experience with the Japanese-based automaker.

Nissan Canada is the Canadian sales, marketing and distribution arm of Nissan Motor Ltd. and Nissan North America Inc. with offices in Vancouver, Mississauga and Kirkland, Que.

Sirius Canada has appointed Mark Redmond as president and CEO.

Redmond has been working with Sirius Canada's senior strategic team preparing for the satellite radio company's entry into the Canadian marketplace.

Previously, Redmond was a Thomson executive for more than 17 years.

Sirius is a Canadian-controlled company that is a partnership of CBC/Radio Canada, Standard Radio Inc. and Sirius Satellite Radio (U.S.)

FirstService Corp. (Nasdaq:FSRV, TSX:FSV) has appointed Scott Patterson as president and COO. He was formerly the executive VP.

Patterson, a chartered accountant, joined the company as corporate development VP in 1995.

FirstService provides residential property management, commercial real estate, security and property improvement services. Its Canadian corporate office is in Toronto.

Seprotech Systems Inc. has appointed Martin Hauschild president and CEO. He replaces Gilles Turcotte as CEO; the latter will serve as a part-time consultant to smooth the transition before retiring.

Hauschild has been with Seprotech since 2002 as executive VP for business development.

Ottawa-based Seprotech provides pre-engineered water and wastewater treatment plants.

LaSalle Investment Management Inc., a member of the Jones Lang LaSalle group, has appointed executives to its Canadian operation.

Zelick Altman has been promoted to managing director for Canada with responsibility for overall leadership of the company's Canadian operations, which include offices in Toronto and Vancouver. Altman joined LaSalle in 2000.

Peter Martin, a 23-year veteran of the real estate industry, has been named senior VP for acquisitions in the company's Vancouver office. Prior to joining LaSalle, Martin was manager of industrial and commercial properties at Concert Properties Ltd.

LaSalle Investment Management is a global real estate investment manager.

FNX Mining Co. Inc. (TSX, AMEX:FNX) has named Roland Horst as VP of business development. Horst also becomes president of Aurora Platinum Corp. and will manage its assets, including projects in Ontario and Quebec and equity holdings in other companies.

FNX Mining Co. Inc. develops and mines nickel, copper and precious metals deposits in the Sudbury district. Its head office is in Toronto.

Insight Sports Ltd. of Toronto has appointed former Calgary Flames president Ronald Bremner as its new chief executive, the broadcasting company says.

Bremner, currently president of a management consulting firm in King City, has worked in the broadcasting field for more than two decades.

He was the president and CEO of the NHL's Flames and the Pengrowth Saddledome from 1996 to 2001.

Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL) has made two executive appointments at Chalk River.

Brian McGee will join AECL as the new vice-president of nuclear laboratories. Paul Fehrenbach, currently VP of nuclear laboratories, moves to the new position of VP and special adviser, where he will help develop marketing strategies for AECL.

Both appointments are effective Nov. 21.

AECL is a nuclear technology company serving nuclear utilities worldwide. It is a Crown corporation with its head office and design centre in Mississauga.
