Oil and gas heavyweight Husky Energy Inc. (TSX:HSE) says its vice-president and CFO Geoff Barlow is resigning to pursue other interests. The resignation is effective Aug. 7 after the completion of the second-quarter interim statements and all related regulatory filings. Barlow was appointed to the position in February 2007. Prior to the appointment, he was VP and controller of Husky Oil Operations Ltd.
Bri-Chem Corp. (TSXV: BRY), a wholesale distributor of drilling fluids, products and related services to the oil and gas industry, has appointed Jason Theiss as chief financial officer. Theiss, a CA, has worked with a private oil and gas income trust. Bri-Chem operates out of its head office in Acheson, Alta.
Serenic Corp. (TSXV:SER) has promoted Randy Keith to chief executive officer. Keith joined Serenic as president and chief operating officer in November 2006. He replaces Jay Malik, whose three-year contract concluded June 30. Malik has resigned as a director but may continue to serve as an adviser to the company. Edmonton-based Serenic is a software developer and marketer specializing in Microsoft integrated products for not-for-profits, educational institutions and governments.
Leeward Capital (TSX:LWC) has appointed Robert Moore as CEO. Moore has been involved in the brokerage industry, focusing on junior mining companies since moving to Calgary. Leeward is a junior mining explorer with its head office in Calgary.
Darren Young has become the chief technical officer for Point Centric Inc. Previously, Young held the position of general manager for IT for the City of Lethbridge. Point Centric is a emergency systems integration and services company with head office in Calgary.
Canexus Income Fund (TSX:CUS.UN) has announced the resignation of its senior VP of operations. Keith McLeod is leaving his position to join another company. Calgary-based Canexus produces sodium chlorate and chlor-alkali products largely for the pulp and paper and water treatment industries.
Murray MacLean has stepped down as VP of finance and CFO of Mirage Energy Ltd. (TSXV:MGE) and Sahara Energy Ltd. (TSXV:SAH) to pursue other opportunities. He has been replaced on an interim basis at Mirage by Dufton Lewis, who has also been named VP of finance and CFO for Sahara, where he was previously controller. Mirage and Sahara are junior oil and gas companies focused on Western Canada. Their head offices are in Calgary.
James Harbilas, a CA, joins Enerflex Systems Income Fund (TSX:EFX.UN) as VP of finance and CFO on Aug. 1. Harbilas comes to Enerflex with prior experience in the EPC sector and executive-level experience in the electricity sector. Enerflex supplies products and services to the global oil and gas production industry. Headquartered in Calgary, Enerflex has approximately 2,700 employees.
Emis Inc. has appointed Heather Linkletter to the newly created position of VP of sales and marketing. Most recently, Linkletter worked in a senior sales and business development role with a manufacturer of medical equipment and software. Emis Inc. is the Canadian operation of Emis, a supplier of electronic medical records and clinical software services. It is headquartered in Edmonton.
Challenger Energy Corp. (TSXV:CHQ, Amex:CHQ) has appointed Dan MacDonald as president and a director. Neil MacKenzie will continue with Challenger as CEO and a director. MacDonald comes with 22 years of experience in various capacities in a number of private and public oil and gas companies. Challenger is a Calgary-based oil and gas exploration company focused on oil and gas plays offshore Trinidad and Tobago, and offshore Nova Scotia.
CE Franklin Ltd. (TSX:CFT; Amex:CFK) has appointed Mark Schweitzer to the position of VP and CFO effective Aug. 13. Schweitzer, a CA, comes with financial management and executive experience in energy-related businesses. CE Franklin supplies products and services to the energy industry. Its head office is in Calgary.

Blair Sinclair has been named regional director of the new Calgary/Edmonton region of First Industrial Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:FR). Sinclair comes with more than 23 years of real estate experience and joins First Industrial from Tonko Realty Advisors Ltd. in Calgary, where he was senior VP. First Industrial buys, (re)develops, leases, manages and sells industrial properties. It also has a Toronto office.
