Imagine your own ocean-side home overlooking a seemingly endless beach within a three-hour ferry ride from Vancouver or a 60-90 minute flight from Calgary or Edmonton.
What you imagine is what you'll get at Sunrise Ridge Resort, a fractional and full-ownership condominium project now under construction near scenic Parksville, B.C., on Vancouver Island.
"The region here throughout Parksville and down through Craig Bay is an inner tidal area," says Jim Walters, vice-president of development for Sunrise Ridge Resort Ltd., an Alberta-based company. "It's one of those regions where you have beaches that go out for about three quarters of a mile, when the tide is low. When the tide is high, you have an ocean playground at your feet.
You get it every day."
When Sunrise Ridge is completely built out in 2010, it will feature 155 luxury residences overlooking Georgia Strait.
"It was the last undeveloped large parcel of land on Craig Bay," says Walters. "There's an elevated view overlooking the Georgia Strait, but there's also a very nice landscaped pathway that leads down to the beachfront on Craig Bay."
Sunrise Ridge will offer breathtaking ocean and mountain vistas. Limited construction pricing for an eighth, quarter or whole ownership starts as low as $52,500. Unit sizes range from 570 sq. ft. for a one-bedroom unit to 1,380 sq. ft. for a three-bedroom home.
All of the homes in the four-storey buildings will be one-level units. All buildings will contain elevators for easy access.
"Each unit is a full condo with a fully-featured kitchen, living room and dining-room area," says Walters.
Each condo will contain tile floors, granite countertops and wood cabinets, while an environmentally friendly geothermal heating and air-conditioning system keeps residents cool in summer and warm in winter more affordably than conventional systems.
"We'll probably end up spending about $1.5 million on our geothermal heating system, which will provide a better heating and cooling source and control costs for owners for the life of their ownership," says Walters.
Outdoor amenities are plentiful, too. "In the lodge area, there's a cascading pool where the pool flows over and there's a wave pool as well as a hot tub and wading pool for the kids," says Walters. "Then there are two more pools that will be built next to the waterfront."
The pooled investment arrangement also gives owners the option of living part-time or full-time in the homes or using them as revenue properties. Parksville has one of the mildest climates in Canada along with a small community and big-city services, ensuring steady rental income when you're not at the resort.
You and your family, guests and tenants can enjoy kayaking, swimming, sailing, caving, fishing, and beachcombing or just take a walk along a myriad of walking paths through rainforest and along sandy beaches.
If golf is your game, you can choose from many courses within a few minutes of Sunrise Ridge Resort. Since Parksville is one of the few places in Canada that is truly green year round, you'll find you never have to put your clubs away.
"The primary benefit of this project is, obviously, the location and the region," says Walters. "Parksville is a very strong, primary tourist location.
Second to that, our fractional program provides a good method of deed ownership in a manner that's more affordable to people."
And more enjoyable.
Sunrise Ridge's ownership group is using the experience that it has gained while building other projects in B.C. at Sooke, Radium Hot Springs and Fairmont Hot Springs, and another development in Belize.
"Our shareholder group has decades of resort-development experience," says Walters.
"We think that's important."
The first three buildings are now under construction at Sunrise Ridge.
"Units have been on sale for about a year," says Walters. "We've had excellent response."
Two buildings are sold out. Ten more buildings will be constructed before Sunrise Ridge is completed in 2010.
"We're actually offering pre-construction prices in Building 4 now," says Walters.
So don't miss your chance to own some of the beautiful views at Sunrise Ridge Resort near beautiful Parksville, B.C.
