Edmonton-based high-tech firm IO-TEK has teamed up with Edmontonians magazine to create the publication’s first-ever multilingual edition.
The special issue marks the first time the magazine has simultaneously published stories in five different languages in the same edition.
Launched Aug. 1 to celebrate Edmonton multiculturalism, the multilingual edition is timed to coincide with the annual Heritage Days festival and the 8th IAAF World Championships, which run through Aug. 12.
The games are being broadcast around the world and have attracted thousands of international athletes and spectators, including many whose first language is not English.
“We needed a partner that has the expertise with language and culture and IO-TEK is the perfect match for our needs,” said Edmontonians publisher Sharon Maclean.
“Their team of certified translators, and project management provided all the expertise we need to make sure we could deliver the magazine on time to the readers.” Added Oscar A Jofre Jr., IO-TEK’s president and CEO: “We are excited about the potential of this initiative to create an unique product for Albertans and our visitors to Edmonton. “It will show the cultural diversity Edmonton has to offer, the global business leaders we have and the roots they come from.”
IO-TEK is a multicultural globalization service provider (GSP) focused on development of proprietary software applications and strategic services.
