(Business Edge columnist Gyle Konotopetz regularly profiles the top stock picks of some of Canada's most accomplished investment pros.)
FEATURED PRO: Andrew Boland is managing director of research at Peters & Co. (www.petersco.com), a Calgary investment firm specializing in the oil and gas industry. Boland is a six-year veteran of the firm and previously toiled as an exploration manager with Pan East Petroleum and as a senior geophysicist with Norcen Energy Resources and Shell Canada.
Boland's Perspective: "The large companies have held up pretty well, but we're in a period of uncertainty, particularly with junior companies. People don't want to do any significant investing in the juniors until there's a clear direction from the commodity."
Peters & Co. Oil Price Forecast: $50 US per barrel for 2005, $40 for 2006 and $30 for 2007.

* Boland's View: "This is an exploration company with a bit of a different bend than a lot of the other companies out there. They're looking at high deliverability of conventional reservoirs in west-central Alberta.
They've just come off a very successful year of drilling, bringing a lot of that production onstream. Now, they're at a size where they can expand on that exploration program. They have a very experienced management and technical team that is working in areas that they're familiar with and putting some pretty good numbers on the board."
