Two partners in one of Canada’s leading law firms are moving to Calgary. Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP has announced that Stan Magidson and Frank Turner will join the firm’s Calgary office.

The company has offices here, in Toronto, Ottawa and New York. Its 330 lawyers specialize in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, tax, energy, technology and litigation.

The move is a homecoming of sorts for Magidson, who began his legal career here and was instrumental in setting up the firm’s Calgary office in 1995. Magidson recently finished a two-year secondment at the Ontario Securities Commission and will lead the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and capital markets practice in western Canada. Turner specializes in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions with an emphasis on cross-border transactions.

“Calgary is clearly an important business centre in Canada and its significance is sure to grow,” said Tim Kennish, chair of the law firm. “The addition of Stan and Frank to our office demonstrates our commitment to serving the needs of our Western Canadian clients.”
