Angus Reid Strategies has appointed Monique Morden as senior VP of client service and managing director for Western Canada.
Morden was previously the sole proprietor of Line Communications and senior VP of Ipsos-Reid Canada. Angus Reid Strategies is a public opinion and market research company. Headquartered in Vancouver, the company has offices in Toronto and Calgary.
Perceptronix Medical Inc. has hired Carl Roy as president and CEO. Roy comes from Providence Health Care, where he was president and CEO. Perceptronix is a private cancer diagnostics company based in Vancouver that commercializes early cancer detection technologies developed jointly with the BC Cancer Agency.
Paragon Pharmacies Ltd. has named Ben Holden as VP of corporate development. Holden joins Paragon from his post as director of retail development with Rexall/Pharma Plus Drug Stores Ltd. – Western Canada. The appointment comes in advance of a proposed amalgamation of Rinoa Enterprises Ltd. (TSXV:RIN.P), a capital pool company, with Paragon. On completion of the proposed transaction Holden is expected to be appointed VP of corporate development for the resulting issuer. Paragon is headquartered in Kelowna and currently owns and operates 17.5 retail pharmacies and two home healthcare stores in British Columbia and Alberta.
Lorne King is the new president and CEO of Prominex Resource Corp. (TSXV:PXR). He replaces Allan Frew, who had asked for a less active role in management. Frew will remain as chairman of the board. King, a CA, has held a variety of senior public- and private-sector financial positions. Prominex is a base metals and gold exploration and development company based in Vancouver.
Finning International Inc. (TSX:FTT) has named Andy Fraser to the position of managing director of the Finning Group, UK, effective Nov. 1. He replaces Nick Lloyd, who is retiring Dec. 31 after 38 years with Finning. Fraser is currently group vice-president for Finning in Canada. Finning is one of the world’s largest Caterpillar equipment dealers. Head office is in Vancouver.
Crosshair Exploration & Mining Corp. (TSXV:CXX) has made two executive changes. Greg Davis has been promoted to VP of business development. He has been with the company since December 2004. Julie Bolden has been appointed VP of corporate affairs and corporate secretary. She has worked at a number of Vancouver law firms as a securities paralegal since 1989. Vancouver-based Crosshair is a uranium and gold exploration and development company with projects in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Visiphor Corp. (TSXV:VIS) has promoted Mike Hilton, formerly senior VP, to the positions of president and chief operating officer of the company. Hilton will continue to direct the sales and marketing and product management groups in addition to his new roles. Hilton has been with Visiphor since November 2005. Visiphor’s software products and services integrate business processes and databases. The company is based in Burnaby.
A 25-year industry veteran has been named to oversee gaming and hospitality operations for Great Canadian Gaming Corp. (TSX:GCD). Vincent Trudel becomes COO, replacing Ross McLeod, the company’s CEO who served as COO on a transitional basis since February. Trudel takes on his new role Nov. 1. Previously, Trudel served as GM of Societe des Loterie Video, a subsidiary of Loto-Quebec. Great Canadian is a multi-jurisdictional gaming and entertainment operator. Head office is in Richmond.
Energy Metals Corp. (TSX:EMC) has made two promotions: Dennis Stover becomes COO and Curtis Sealy becomes VP of environmental and regulatory affairs. Prior to joining EMC in 2005, Stover led a private consulting firm. Sealy is a professional engineer with more than 35 years of experience in the metals mining and milling industry. Based in Vancouver, Energy Metals is focused on a portfolio of uranium properties in the United States.
Tree Island Wire Income Fund (TSX:TIL.UN) says Ted Leja is retiring as president and CEO of Tree Island Industries, to be succeeded by Daniel McAtee later this year. Leja is serving in a consulting capacity until a transition period is completed and McAtee meets immigration requirements. Leja has agreed to serve as vice-chairman of the board following his retirement. McAtee was previously president of Tyco’s A&E products group. Tree Island Industries manufactures wire and fabricated wire products. Its head office is in Richmond.
NaiKun Wind Development Inc., proponent of one of the world’s largest offshore windfarm developments, has appointed Michael Margolick as VP of power and transmission planning for the company. Prior to joining NaiKun, Margolick held positions in resource and strategic planning at BC Hydro, and ran a consulting practice. NaiKun is a B.C.-based company that has researched wind energy off the coast of B.C. since 2001. It is a subsidiary of Vancouver-based Uniterre Resources.
Bill Wrixon has resigned as president of Coastal Contacts Inc. (TSX:COA). While Wrixon is leaving to pursue other business interests, he has signed a consulting agreement with Coastal. Company co-founder Roger Hardy will resume the role of president, a position he held previously from 2000 until 2003. Coastal is a direct distributor of contact lens headquartered in Vancouver.
Capella Resources Ltd. (TSXV:CPS) says Richard Bachman, chief geological officer and company director, has been appointed president following the resignation of Brian Gracey. Gracey continues to serve as a director. Capella is a gold and silver exploration company, with head office in Vancouver.
Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) has promoted Anne Giardini to VP and general counsel for Canada. Giardini previously served as assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary for Weyerhaeuser in Canada. She will continue to be based in the company’s Canadian head office in Vancouver. Weyerhaeuser is one of the world’s largest integrated forest products companies.
