Entering its ninth year, Media Dog has earned a worldwide reputation for custom web design, content management, and database development.
Media Dog has also developed its own web-based software solutions that allows even the most computer-phobic among us to operate a diverse website with all the bells and whistles.
From its Calgary office, (and a recently opened office in Edmonton), Media Dog has earned a worldwide reputation, entirely through word of mouth.
“We’ve amassed a very diverse portfolio,” says Media Dog partner Dino Esposito. “We’ve built websites for airlines, financial institutions, energy companies, brokerages, agricultural firms, real estate companies, you name it,” says Esposito.

This award-winning firm has done work all over the world, from England to the Caribbean, across Western Canada and into the United States and South America – even as far afield as Qatar in the Middle East.
And these are not cookie-cutter, off-the-shelf solutions, says Esposito. Media Dog has its own proprietary suite of software solutions, called Conductor, which allows web content to be managed by the same people who create it. No knowledge of HTML or any other web programming language is required.
After nearly a decade in the industry, Media Dog has become one of the leaders in their field. Major clients from around the world have turned to Media Dog to create websites that entertain, inform, enhance and create business.
Among the more unique clients Media Dog has undertaken major projects for are the Mac’s convenience store chain and its youth-oriented Froster.ca site, the Law Society of Alberta site with its extensive archival capabilities, and the French-language version of the WestJet site.
The WestJet site is a good example of how Media Dog can work on tight timelines, and always delivers.
“The unique thing about the WestJet project was that it had to be delivered in three-weeks. We had to guarantee the timeline in order to earn it, and we delivered it ahead of schedule,” Esposito says.
Indeed, delivering on time and as promised are two of the hallmarks of Media Dog.
“We guarantee delivery and timelines,” says Esposito. “A large number of web developers have promised companies a lot of solutions over the years and have not delivered. We’ve never done that – we’ve always delivered and always completed a solution on time. That’s a big thing in our industry.”
One of the most important considerations in choosing Media Dog is just how remarkably easy one of their websites is to operate.
“We build solutions that create independence,” says Esposito. “When we are finished creating a solution, our clients are not held hostage. The client can maintain and change everything on their website.”
Media Dog provides all the training necessary to maintain a website using the Conductor software suite, (developed and solely owned by Media Dog). Its ease of use is outstanding.
Conductor allows the client to maintain full control of the entire site, from simple online information to buying and selling over the web.
“All of our solutions are built around the fact that you do not need to understand anything about the web. If you can work in Microsoft Word, you can work on your own site.”
Every client needs custom capabilities, and instead of fitting a client to an off-the-shelf software package, Media Dog tailors their solution to the way a client does business.
Perhaps nothing speaks to the expertise of Media Dog more than the fact that the company is alive and thriving after nearly a decade of industry ups and downs. Esposito says not a single direct competitor from when the company opened is still around today.
Media Dog has some clients that have been with the firm since it opened nearly a decade ago – an almost unheard of length of time in the unsettled web-development industry. “We’ve weathered every storm, and kept all of our key staff,” says Esposito.
Media Dog, (co-owned by Esposito, Joel Sinclair and Simon Turnock) employs 15 people in its Calgary and Edmonton offices.
“All of our work comes from word of mouth referrals from clients. We’ve been blessed to have clients that stand behind us.”
Media Dog, which specializes in mid-sized to large companies, provides solutions that a company can grow into, and every one is as different as a fingerprint. “We don’t build templated web sites; every solution is different. Everything is custom made for that client.
Media Dog has won a number of awards for its clients, most recently the 2003 Alberta E-Business Award in the business-to-business category.
