Covalon Technologies Ltd. (TSXV:COV) has promoted Sonia Sanhueza to chief operating officer. William Jackson, who was previously COO, will continue as CFO and take on the role of chief business officer. Sanhueza had been Covalon’s VP of clinical and regulatory affairs and operational processes since January. Covalon Technologies sells medical products for wound care and surgical applications and coatings. Its head office is in Mississauga.

Eloro Resources Ltd. has hired Jeff Hussey, P. Geo., as VP of exploration and named Martin Bourgoin, P.Geo., as executive VP of Eloro. Hussey brings more than 20 years of experience in exploration and mining. Bourgoin was appointed Eloro’s executive VP of exploration in February 2006. Eloro is a junior exploration company focused on northern Quebec and northern Ontario. Its head office is in Toronto.

Allard Johnson Communications has appointed Ania Lindenbergs (formerly Russocki) to its Toronto office as VP. Most recently, she served as president and CEO of Arnold Worldwide in Toronto. Everlink Payment Services Inc. has named Mark Ripplinger to the positions of president and COO. Ripplinger joins Everlink from the Canadian Payments Association, where he was VP of technology and CIO. Formed in 2003, Everlink is a national electronic services supplier providing switching services to 90 per cent of the Canadian credit union system and financial services organizations. It is based in Markham.

Financial Executives International Canada has appointed Michael Conway, CA, as its chief executive and national president. Conway’s career has included service as senior VP and CFO at Psion Teklogix, VP and controller at BCE, and VP and chief accountant at the Royal Bank of Canada. FEI Canada is a professional membership association for senior financial executives with more than 2,000 members in 11 chapters across Canada. Its office is in Toronto.

Mark Bosanac is the new vice-president of marketing for Chrysler Canada. Bosanac was previously director of sales planning and programs at the Chrysler LLC headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. He has been with Chrysler since 1986. Bosanac replaces Judy Wheeler, who was recently appointed director of international marketing and communications. Chrysler Canada’s headquarters are in Windsor.

A senior Finance Department official will replace Bank of Canada governor David Dodge when he retires early next year. Mark Carney, senior associate deputy minister of finance, will take up the reins of the central bank Feb. 1. Carney, 42, has economics degrees from Harvard and Oxford and is a former investment banker on Wall Street.

After recent upheaval in the boardroom, ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (TSX:ATA) has appointed Garry West, a recently retired Ernst & Young partner and now president of the Royal Canadian Golf Association, as interim chief financial officer. In mid-September, the Cambridge-based company installed a new management team after its existing board of directors resigned and was replaced by a group recommended by two hedge funds with a stake in the firm. Also resigning were CEO Jon Jutras and CFO Gerry Beard. ATS Automation has three lines of business: High-tech manufacturing systems, precision components and a solar business.

Lou Clancy is back at the Toronto Sun as editor-in-chief. The newspaper said the appointment frees Glenn Garnett, Sun Media’s executive editor-in-chief, to focus on the merger with recently acquired Osprey Media. Also appointed by Sun Media’s new CEO Michael Sifton were Shannon McPeak as VP of corporate advertising sales, and Jack Mulchinock as senior VP of information technology. Sun Media is part of the Quebecor Media group, which acquired the Osprey Media Income Fund in August for $414 million plus assumed debt.

Nortel Networks (TSX:NT) has named Pavi Binning, a former CFO at Hanson PLC and Marconi PLC, as chief financial officer and executive VP. Acting CFO David Drinkwater returns to the position of chief legal officer while acting CLO Gordon Davies goes back to being general corporate counsel and corporate secretary, the Toronto-based telecom networks firm said. Binning will be based in Toronto.

Kevin Thornton has rejoined Corel Corp. (TSX:CRE, Nasdaq:CREL) as its senior VP for sales and marketing for the Americas. Thornton had been senior VP of sales at Sage Software. He was previously VP of sales for the Americas at Corel. Corel develops graphics, productivity and digital media software. Its head office is in Ottawa.

Marsulex Inc. (TSX:MLX) has appointed Keith McLeod as senior VP for operations. McLeod, a P.Eng., was most recently senior VP of operations for a large Canadian chemical producer. Marsulex provides industrial services, including environmental compliance solutions. Its head office is in Toronto.

Reko International Group Inc. (TSX:REK) has appointed Carl Merton as CFO. He brings more than 16 years of experience in accounting and finance, most recently as a VP in the finance department at Atlas Tube. Retiring CFO Michael Dunn will be available as an adviser during the transition period. Reko is an engineering and manufacturing firm providing engineered services for the plastics segment of the automotive, aerospace and consumer product markets. Its head office is in Oldcastle.

RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:REI.UN) says CFO Robert Wolf has decided to resign to pursue other interests, effective February 2008. RioCan also announced that Katherine Ritcey, RioCan’s VP of investments, is leaving RioCan effective Nov. 1 to spend more time with her family. Ritcey will be replaced by Jonathan Gitlin, currently assistant VP of investments. RioCan owns and manages one of Canada’s largest portfolios of shopping centres. Its head office is in Toronto.

St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd. (TSX:SAS) says Jacques Perron has started work as president and CEO. He replaces Glenn Laing, who will remain a director. Perron was previously employed by Iamgold Corp. as senior VP for the Americas. St. Andrew is a gold-mining and exploration company with operations in Timmins and Alaska. Its head office is in Oakville.

Pacific Stratus Energy Ltd. (TSX:PSE) says Marino Ostos, president and COO of its Colombian branch, has resigned for personal reasons. Ostos will be staying on in a consulting capacity for an indefinite period. Pacific Stratus is a Canadian-based oil and gas company focused on the upstream Sub-Andean basins. It has offices in Toronto, Caracas and Bogota.

Fox-Tek develops asset-monitoring sensor systems for the oil and gas market. It has its head office in Toronto and trades as FOX on the Venture Exchange.

Alturas is a Canadian corporation, and is the parent of Alturas Minerals S.A., or Alturas Peru. Alturas’s head office is in Toronto.
