Minefinders Corp. Ltd. (TSX:MFL, AMEX:MFN) has selected a successor to its retiring chief financial officer Ronald Simpson.

Greg Smith, CA, will join the company Nov.1 and assume the CFO role following the publication of the Minefinders' Q3 financial statements. Most recently, Smith served as risk manager for a Canadian gold producer.

Mark Dobbin has taken over the controls of CHC Helicopter Corp. (TSX:FLY.A, TSX:FLY.B) after the death of his father Craig.

Craig Dobbin, the entrepreneur who founded the world-spanning company nearly two decades ago, recently died at age 71 shortly after taking a leave of absence.

Mark Dobbin had joined the company's board of directors as deputy chairman last month, a return to the company where he had spent 17 years. He is head of private equity firm Killick Capital.

Richmond-based CHC provides helicopter services to the global offshore oil and gas industry.
