Christopher Woodward has resigned as chief financial officer of Calgary-based Monroe Minerals Inc. (MMX-TSX).
He will be replaced by Peter Farkas, who is secretary of the company.
Woodward will continue to be involved in accounting, treasury and administration functions through his company, Woodward Consulting Ltd.
Monroe is engaged in the exploration and development of diamond properties in Southern Africa.
David Robottom is joining the ranks Stikeman Elliot LLP.
Toronto-based Stikeman has named Robottom as a partner in its Calgary office. Previously, he was a senior partner and former CEO of another major law firm.
With offices in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa, as well ab abroad, Stikeman Elliot specializes in business law.
Edward Bell has joined the executive suite at Transglobe Energy Corporation (TGL-TSX; TGA-AMEX). Bell, who has 36 years of global petroleum experience, will be the company’s manager of international exploration.
Meanwhile, Glenn Taylor has joined the company as manager of operations (domestic). He has 23 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and previously held senior roles with Western Star Exploration, Inverness Petroleum and Canadian Superior Oil.
Calgary-based TransGlobe is an international explorer and producer of oil and gas.
The International Hotel of Calgary has announced three
appointments. John Nidua has been named executive chef; Magdelena Gadomski director of sales; and Tania Russell is now front office manager.
Connacher Oil and Gas Limited (CLL-TSX) has appointed Peter Sametz, P. Eng., to the position of vice-president, operations, effective immediately.
Sametz’s extensive career in the oil industry spans 25 years. In his new position, he assumes the daily responsibilities of overseeing the company’s expanding operations.
At the same time, Paul Jespersen has resigned as executive VP and chief operating officer of the company due to family health matters. Jespersen will continue his affiliation with Connacher as a part-time contracted advisor, focusing on co-ordinating the development of the company’s recently acquired oilsands property at its Great Divide project southwest of Fort McMurray.
Connacher is a Calgary-based oil and natural gas company.
PR veteran Mona Gauvreau has become VP of public relations for the Calgary office of Hill & Knowlton Canada.
Currently president of the CPRS Calgary chapter, she brings 15 years of national and international public relations experience to the position. Prior to joining Hill & Knowlton, she operated pr works, a small full-service agency.
Hill & Knowlton Canada specializes in government relations and corporate, crisis, consumer marketing, technology, healthcare and life sciences communications as well as financial and investor relations.
A Calgary law office is enhancing its litigation capabilities with a new partner.
Lewis Manning has joined Fasken Martineau to focus on regulatory and administrative law, with an emphasis on the energy and utilities industry. Manning was called to the Alberta bar in 1982.
The Calgary office of Fasken Martineau opened in the spring of 2003. Fasken Martineau also has offices in Vancouver, Yellowknife, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, New York, London and Johannesburg.
