TMX Group Inc. (TSX:X) has announced the impending departure of Luc Bertrand, who headed the Montreal Exchange before its takeover last year by the former TSX Group.
Bertrand, 54, holding the titles of deputy chief executive officer of TMX Group and president and CEO of subsidiary Montreal Exchange Inc., will step down effective June 30, Canada's dominant financial market operator said.
"I have had a wonderful career working with the MX team, and am proud of our achievements in creating TMX Group, fulfilling a vision I have had for the Canadian capital markets since 1999," Bertrand said in a statement. "I now feel that it is a good time for me to move on to other challenges and opportunities.”
He did not specify what they are.
Bertrand, who became CEO of the Montreal Exchange in 2000 and built its business in futures and options, will be replaced as head of the Montreal-based derivatives market by Alain Miquelon, a chartered accountant who joined MX in August 2007 and was chief financial officer and head of strategic planning before heading integration management in the merger which closed last May.

Soft drink maker Cott Corp. (TSX:BCB) has named Jerry Fowden as its new chief executive. Fowden joined Cott in 2007 to lead the company's U.K. business before taking over as president of its international operation. He replaces interim CEO David Gibbons, who abruptly replaced Brent Willis in March 2008 as the company's fourth chief executive in five years. Cott is one of the world's largest non-alcoholic drink companies. Its corporate headquarters are in Mississauga.

Second Cup Royalty Income Fund says that Robert Masson, CA, has been named its CFO, and secretary and CFO of Second Cup GP Inc.
Second Cup is one of Canada's largest specialty coffee café franchisors and a retailer of specialty coffee. The fund's head office is in Mississauga.

Cinram International Income Fund (TSX:CRW.UN), a maker of DVDs and CDs, says CEO David Rubenstein has resigned as a trustee and officer of the fund after more than 15 years with Cinram. Rubenstein has agreed to continue in his current roles until March 31, the Toronto-based company said. Cinram did not give a reason for Rubenstein's departure.

U.S. Silver Corp. (TSXV:USA) says that its interim CEO, Thomas Parker, is now president and CEO. Parker, a mining engineer, was most recently president and CEO of Gold Crest Mines Inc. U.S. Silver, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, owns and operates three silver-lead-copper mines in Idaho. It has offices in Toronto and Wallace, Idaho.

Trelawney Resources Inc. (TSXV:TRR) says it has named Greg Gibson as president and CEO. Gibson replaces Wayne O'Connor, who retired at the end of February but will continue as a consultant and board chairman. Gibson brings 30 years' experience in the mining industry. Trelawney, formerly Terex Resources Inc., is focusing its gold exploration efforts in Ontario. Its head office is in Toronto.

Bill Argeropoulos has been named VP and director of research for Canada at Avison Young (Canada) Inc., the company said in a release. Argeropoulos will work from Avison Young's downtown Toronto office.
He was most recently VP of national research with Jones Lang LaSalle.

Specialty Data Systems of Toronto has appointed Shane Harris as director of sales.
Harris‚ working from Boise, Idaho, will be responsible for the account management of SDS’s client base in the U.S., including radio, television, cable, interactive and sports networks. He comes to SDS after more than 10 years with Hailey, Idaho-based Marketron Broadcast Solutions, where he was most recently national sales manager.
SDS provides broadcast management software for radio stations, television stations and cable networks.
