Brian Frank is the new president and chief executive of BP Canada Energy Company. Frank is the first Canadian to serve in these roles. He replaces Dennis Roemmich, who is retiring from the Calgary-based firm.
Frank has more than 20 years of energy industry experience including eight years with BP Canada and its predecessor, Amoco Canada. He also held senior positions with the federal Department of Natural Resources.
BP Canada, part of the BP group of companies, is active in natural gas exploration, development, production, marketing and trading.
Dr. Jacqueline Shan has been appointed CEO of CV Technologies.
Shan, a pharmacologist and physiologist, is co-founder of the Edmonton-based company (CVQ-TSXV). She continues in her role as president and chief scientific officer.
CV Technologies develops and distributes natural health products for disease prevention and health maintenance, including its signature product, COLD-fX.
Jim Thompson has been named vice-president and general manager of the Alberta region of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
He will oversee all regional rental car operations for Alberta, which include 29 locations and more than 190 full- and part-time employees.
Thompson joined the company in southern California 12 years ago before moving to Chicago to take on the role of regional rental manager. Most recently, he was regional vice-president for Enterprise in north Los Angeles.
Judy Hoad has joined the Alberta Real Estate Foundation board as a consumer representative. She replaces retiring governor Ellen Humphrey.
Hoad, manager of public engagement for the City of Calgary, has previously served as an alderman, university lecturer and community development worker.
Members of the foundation’s board of governors are responsible for awarding grants, policy development and defining the strategic direction of the grants program. Since 1991, the foundation has awarded more than $6 million in funding to projects throughout the province.
Navigo Energy Inc. has hired Rob D’Adamo as vice-president of business development. D’Adamo has 16 years of experience in the energy sector including previous roles as manager of land negotiations for Petro-Canada and senior landman with Ulster Petroleums, Summit Resources and Amerada Hess Canada Ltd.
Navigo (NVG-TSX) is a Calgary-based oil and gas exploration and production company.
CSI Wireless Inc is undergoing changes at the top. Colin Maclellan has been appointed to the new position of chief operating officer for the Calgary-based company (CSY-TSX).
Maclellan joined CSI in March 2002 as senior vice-president and general manager of its wireless business unit. He previously spent 16 years in senior roles at Nortel Networks.
As well, Michael Cummiskey has joined the company as vice-president of business development, fixed wireless and radio products. He formerly was business development manager at wireless chips and software supplier PrairieComm, Inc. and prior to that was global account manager for Mentor Graphics Corporation.
CSI Wireless designs and manufactures wireless and GPS products for mobile and fixed applications in the agriculture, marine, automotive and other markets.
Garth Pudwell is the new chief financial officer for Pangaea Systems Inc. of Calgary.
Most recently, Pudwell was president of a Calgary-based technology firm. He has also worked with two chartered accounting firms where he was responsible for providing accounting and auditing services to public and private companies.
Pangaea is a privately held e-business service provider with operations across Western Canada and the United States.
Veteran oilpatch journalist Gordon Jaremko is leaving the editor’s chair at Oilweek Magazine after more than six years on the job. The journalist and author says he will stay in Alberta and continue to practise his craft. A replacement is now being sought.
Oilweek is a Calgary-based monthly magazine, a weekly newsletter and an Internet website that provides news and feature coverage of the industry ranging from exploration to marketing in Canada and around the world.
Cascadia International Resources Inc. of Calgary has appointed Bob Middleton as vice-president of exploration.
Since 1983, Middleton has directed a consulting/ contracting geophysical-geological services group based in Timmins, Ont. Prior to that, he was Canadian vice-president of Rosario Resources Corporation and manager of airborne operations for Barringer Research Ltd. Cascadia is a basemetal/PGM exploration company with properties in Quebec and Ontario.
