Commercial real estate service company Avison Young says that Mark Rose has been named to the new position of CEO. He was most recently CEO of Grubb & Ellis Co. Rose is a certified public accountant and will also be CFO at Avison Young. He will work from Toronto. Avison Young is a partner-owned company formed in 1996 that has 11 offices across Canada.

Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT (TSX:CSH.UN) of Mississauga says Richard Noonan has been appointed as chief operating officer. Noonan previously worked for the company's Canadian retirement communities division in the same role. He replaces Cam Crawford who is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Crawford was placed in the COO position in January 2007 as part of an executive shakeup intended to make the trust profitable again. But the company has continued to slosh around in red ink. Also moving into a new role is Donna Marasco as senior VP of operations, boosting her position from solely handling operations in Western Canada.

Toronto-based Centerra Gold Inc. (TSX:CG) has named Stephen Lang as president and CEO, succeeding the retiring Leonard Homeniuk. Jeffrey Parr, VP of finance, has been named CFO, Centerra said in a release. He replaces David Petroff, who has resigned to pursue other interests. Centerra is focused on acquiring and developing gold properties primarily in Central Asia, the former Soviet Union and other emerging markets. Its head office is in Toronto.

Nuinsco Resources Ltd. (TSX:NWI) has appointed Alison Sutcliffe as VP of finance and CFO. Sutcliffe is a chartered accountant who was previously controller of resources at Dundee Corp. In addition to her position with Nuinsco, Sutcliffe also becomes controller of Victory Nickel Inc. (TSX:NI). Victory Nickel is a pure-play nickel company in which Nuinsco owns a 22-per-cent equity interest. Sean Stokes has been promoted to Nuinsco's VP of corporate affairs and corporate secretary. (TSX:SOY) says that CEO Steve Bromley and CFO John Dietrich "will be transitioning from their current positions by no later than the end of the year" on recommendations from an audit committee. Reporting of financial results for the full year of 2007 and the first quarter of 2008 are expected by July 31, a deadline set for the delisting of the company's stock from the Nasdaq after it missed earlier filing deadlines. SunOpta produces and distributes natural and organic food products. Its head office is in Brampton.
