Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM), once known as BP Canada, has attracted veteran executive John Manzoni from its former parent company to be Talisman's next president and CEO.

He replaces Jim Buckee, who is retiring at age 61 after 16 years in charge.

Manzoni, who takes over Sept. 1, has been CEO of refining and marketing at London-based BP PLC since 2002.

Calgary-based Talisman is an independent upstream oil and gas company with operations in Canada and subsidiaries that operate around the world.

Winalta Inc. (TSXV: WTA.A) has appointed Randy Haden as VP of marketing, Winalta Inc. Industrial Division.

Haden has worked for Precision Drilling for the past 22 years, most recently in marketing and sales.

Winalta Inc. with its subsidiaries is a land developer in Western Canada, produces modular homes, and manufactures industrial trailers and camps. Its head office is in Spruce Grove.

Mark Bilsland, the former chief financial officer, has been appointed chief operating officer and a director.

Tom Mackay has resigned from the position of senior VP, technical and accepted a role with Stratic as a consultant.

Stratic is a junior oil and gas company focused on three areas: The North Sea, Italy and the Black Sea. Its head office is in Calgary.

WestJet (TSX:WJA) says that Don Bell, one of its founders, is planning to depart from his position at the airline this summer.

Bell, who once served WestJet as captain of 737 aircraft, is set to retire as executive VP of culture on July 2.

Based in Calgary, WestJet offers scheduled service to 38 cities in North America and the Caribbean.
