Edmonton-based Resin Systems Inc. (RSI) has named Paul Giannelia as CEO of RS Technologies Inc.

RS Technologies was recently created as the operating arm of RSI (RS-TSXV) to oversee product commercialization, R&D, sales and marketing, and international business growth.

Giannelia joined the firm as a special adviser earlier this year. Previously, he was president and CEO of SC Infrastructure and Strait Crossing Inc., and project director of the Confederation Bridge Project, which crosses the Northumberland Strait between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

RSI is a technology firm engaged in the commercialization and further development of composite materials throughout the global marketplace.

Axia NetMedia Corporation has appointed John Maynard as chief financial officer.

Maynard was president of Netricom, a subsidiary of Calgary-based Axia, until August 31, when it was sold to a third party.

He has previously held executive roles in Canada and overseas in such sectors as financial services, publishing and printing.

As well, Peter McKeown has been appointed to the new position of vice-president of corporate development. McKeown will focus his efforts on the merger, acquisition and divestiture activities of Axia (AXX-TSX). McKeown previously served as a senior financial officer with the company.

Randy Best is the new vice-president of corporate development with Baytex Energy Trust.

Best has nearly 25 years of experience in the energy sector, most recently as managing director of Waterous & Co. in Calgary, where he specialized in oil and gas property divestment.

Calgary-based Baytex (BTE.UN-TSX) is a conventional oil and gas income trust.

Implementation & Advisory Group Ltd. (IAG) has expanded its team.

Murray Newton joins the firm’s Calgary office as a senior associate. Newton has nearly three decades of private- and public-sector energy industry experience, working with companies including PetroKazakhstan, Irving Oil Limited, TransCanada PipeLines, the National Energy Board and Natural Resources Canada.

As well, Gordon Ulrich has joined the firm’s Edmonton office as a senior affiliate. Ulrich has held a variety of senior roles during his 23 years with Luscar Ltd. including chief executive officer.

IAG is a Western Canadian-based consulting firm specializing in project and business development, governmental and regulatory affairs, and corporate and project finance.

Two senior executives have resigned from Calgary-based Aurado Energy Inc.

Riaz Sumar has stepped down as vice-president of finance and chief financial officer. Donald Blackett has resigned as general counsel and corporate secretary. The company has hired Beat Aus der Au of Lugano, Switzerland, as controller. He has more than 25 years of experience with major European banks and oil trading companies.

A search is under way to fill the position of CFO.
