Paul Daneshrad will become the CEO of Gimbel Vision International Inc., subject to regulatory approval.

Daneshrad is the president and CEO of Aris Vision, Inc. which earlier this year acquired a majority interest in GVI.

Craig Lavelle will become president and Donald Baird will continue his responsibilities as chief financial officer for a transitional period.

Karen Gimbel, previously president and CEO of GVI, will provide transitional services to GVI. Dr. Howard Gimbel, medical director of GVI and international medical director of Aris, will continue his practice of refractive eye surgery at GVI’s Calgary Centre.

Georgina Godfrey, VP, international operations, Janelle Weller, VP, Canadian operations, and Melody Mehta, VP, marketing, have resigned.

Gimbel Vision International Inc. (GBV–TSE) owns or is partnered with refractive vision correction centres in Canada, the U.S., Thailand and China.

Don Garner is the new president and chief operating officer of PrimeWest Energy Trust.

Garner was previously president and COO of Northstar Energy Corp. from 1998 until February of this year. Prior to that he was with Imperial Oil Ltd. for 19 years in various capacities.

PrimeWest (PWI.UN–TSE) is a conventional oil and gas royalty trust based in Calgary.

Peter Boyd, a founder of Arcis Corporation, has been appointed its president and CEO. At the same time, Theodore Hanlon has been appointed chairman of the board of directors and Vince Rodych was named executive VP and COO.

Calgary-based Arcis Corporation (RKS, RKS.WT-TSE) uses its in-house services to create and sell seismic data.

John VanRiper and William Bale have left Takla Star Resources.

VanRiper was VP and general counsel. The company said he has resigned as a director to pursue other business interests.

Bale was VP, corporate development and has resigned from the board as well.

Edmonton-based Takla Star Resources (TKR–CDNX) announced a year ago that it was refocusing its direction from mineral exploration toward venture capital investment in the technology and e-commerce sectors.

Lynn Dawson is the new chief financial officer at E-Tronics Inc., one of a number of changes at the Calgary energy technology company.

Dawson, formerly corporate controller, replaces Bob Gillies, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.

Elson McDougald has been appointed president, in addition to his existing duties as CEO. Bob Timoffee has relinquished the president’s title to become executive VP, corporate development of E-Tronics (ETX–CDNX).

Colin Patterson is the new VP, operations at Shaw Communications Inc. Patterson will be responsible for overseeing cable operations in Saskatchewan and the B.C. Interior.

He has held senior positions in the banking/trust and computer software industries and is a former member of the Calgary Flames.

John Putters takes over as president of Edmonton-based New Media Capital Inc. Putters is a director of New Media and the director and president of New Media’s wholly-owned subsidiary CSM Systems Inc. He replaces Brian Bygrave, the former president of New Media. Bygrave continues as secretary and a director of the company.

New Media (NMD–CDNX) develops and sells e-commerce technology.

Charles Fischer has taken over as president and CEO of Nexen Inc. At the same time Marvin Romanow has become the executive VP and CFO.

Fischer joined the company in 1994 as senior VP, exploration and productions. In 1997, he became executive VP and COO.

Nexen is an in independent global energy and chemicals company.

Dr. Wayne Schnarr is the new VP, corporate development of Oncolytics Biotech Inc. Schnarr was most recently the biotechnology analyst with Canaccord Capital Corp. He has held senior management positions and been a director for a number of private and publicly traded biotechnology companies.

Oncolytics (ONC–TSE) is a Calgary-based biotechnology company focused on developing cancer therapies.
