Westminster Resources Ltd. (WML-TSE) has appointed two newcomers to the company’s executive team.
Brent Harris becomes vice-president, exploration. Harris is a professional geologist and joins Westminster after more than 24 years of experience in oil and gas exploration in Canada. He was most recently the vice-president of exploration at an intermediate oil and gas company.
Ken Cruikshank becomes vice-president, land. He is a landman with more than 25 years of experience in the oilpatch. Cruikshank was most recently employed at a junior oil and gas company.
They join Robb Waldner, who was appointed president and CEO in July.
Dr. Brad Thompson has joined the scientific advisory board at Edmonton-based WavePOINT Systems Inc. (WVP-CDNX), which provides alternative treatment for ADHD (Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder).
Thompson is president and CEO of Oncolytics Biotech Inc., which is focused on the discovery and development of pharmaceutical products for the treatment of cancers that have not been successfully treated with conventional therapeutics.
WavePOINT president and CEO Jason S. Randhawa said Thompson’s contributions will be very important as his company explores partnership opportunities with health-care organizations interested in the benefits of a non-invasive approach for ADHD.
JoAnne Dorval has joined Nu-Sky Energy Inc. (NUS-CDNX) as chief financial officer.
Dorval is a certified general accountant (CGA) with 17 years of experience with junior oil and gas companies. She was most recently employed as the CFO with Player Petroleum Inc. n n n Hi-Alta Capital Inc. (HIA-TSE) has appointed Tom Dutton to the position of president and COO of Western Insurance Network Inc. He will also become a member of Hi-Alta’s board of directors.
Dutton was Hi-Alta’s senior VP for Saskatchewan.
The appointment comes upon the retirement of Western Insurance Network’s first president, Linda Lively.
Lively, whose independent brokerage firm in Nanton, Alberta was among the founding acquisitions made by Hi-Alta Capital when it began building the network in 1996, will continue as a member of Hi-Alta’s board of directors and will also consult on new acquisitions to the Network.
Dutton will be located at High River, head office and operations headquarters for Hi-Alta Capital and its subsidiaries, through which the company provides insurance, investment and agent banking services in 37 communities across Western Canada.
Canadian Oil Sands (COS.UN-TSE) has appointed Marcel R. Coutu as its first CEO following the business combination with Athabasca Oil Sands Trust.
Coutu has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector. He was most recently chief financial officer of Gulf Canada Resources Limited, where his responsibilities included the oversight of Gulf's investment in Syncrude.
Canadian Oil Sands is a royalty trust with 56.8 million units owned by investors in Canada and internationally.
Cliotools.com Ltd. (CIO.A-CDNX) has appointed David Caul to the board of directors and CFO.
Caul assumes the responsibilities of Harvey Bay, who left to pursue other opportunities.
Caul, who practises in Calgary as a contract executive, has also served in senior management positions as a management consultant, owner and managing director over the past 25 years.

Craig Lavelle has been appointed CEO. Lavelle is currently president of Gimbel Vision International Inc. and is a member of GVI’s board of directors.
Paul Daneshrad has resigned as CEO in order to focus his attention on other business opportunities.
Joining Lavelle on the GVI management team are Don Baird, executive VP and COO; and Larry Kearl, VP, finance and CFO.
Daneshrad has also resigned his position as a member of the board of directors. The board has also accepted Bruce Maller’s resignation as a director.
