Ken Shearer has been elected to serve as president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board (EREB) for 2002.
Shearer has been a director on the board since 1999 and served as president-elect in 2001. He first served as a director and president of the EREB from 1986-1991.
The Edmonton Real Estate Board is a professional association of 2,125 brokers and agents in the greater Edmonton area.
The president and CEO of Nexen Inc. is the new industry co-chair of Climate Change Central (CCC), the private/public sector agency that works to reduce Alberta’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Energy industry veteran Charlie Fischer joins Environment Minister Lorne Taylor as the other co-chair of CCC.
Fischer is also a member of the Alberta Economic Development Authority.
Fischer replaces David Tuer, the former president and CEO of PanCanadian Energy, who recently resigned from CCC.

The Wired Woman Society has appointed Eva Kwan as president of the newly established Calgary chapter of the national organization.
Kwan’s new role calls for her to build an executive team, extend the role of mentorship and education to women in the local tech community and help to establish R&D programs for women.
Kwan is currently the managing director of Query Solutions. Her previous assignments include business development manager of Michitsch Systems Inc. and leader, information systems at Calgary Health Trust.

Michael West has been appointed as president and CEO of CE Franklin Ltd. West has extensive senior management experience in oilfield distribution with major distributors for the Canadian oil and gas industry.

International real estate strategy and services firm The Staubach Company has opened its doors in Calgary.
Local real estate industry veteran Douglas McGregor has been named president of Staubach Alberta Inc. and will lead the company’s western operations.
McGregor has 23 years of industry experience in Western Canada and has worked with local and national clients including SNC Lavalin, Deloitte & Touche, KPMG, Manulife Financial and Morguard REIT.
The Staubach Company represents about 1,200 real estate professionals in North America.
AgriTec Systems, Inc. of Calgary has started the new year by making several senior appointments.
Douglas Stephens, president of subsidiary AgriTec, Inc., has been appointed president/CEO of AgriTec Systems and will oversee day-to-day operations and direct the company’s strategic technology and business development.
Stephens is a professional engineer with more than 30 years of experience in developing and commercializing new products and technology. He has served as chief technology officer of AgriTec Systems since its inception.
The company has also named Greg Wellen as treasurer and interim CFO. Wellen, who has served as controller of AgriTec and president of wholly owned subsidiary enviroLife, Inc., will oversee the financial and accounting duties. Wellen has been general manager of enviroLife’s Nutri-Fern division since 1987.
AgriTec Systems, Inc. (AGR-CDNX) through its subsidiaries has developed and patented a number of proprietary technologies regarding the manufacture of silicate and carbon products from biomass agricultural waste.
Ben Anderson has resigned as president and as a director of Canada Southern Petroleum Ltd. (CSPLF-Nasdaq, CSW-TSE) to pursue other interests. He will serve as a consultant to the company for six months.
Randy Denecky, the company’s chief financial officer, will serve as acting president until a successor is elected.
