Husky Energy Inc. has named a new vice-president and chief financial officer for Husky Oil Operations Ltd.

Prior to this appointment, Doug Fraser held several positions with other Canadian companies, most recently with Petro-Canada.

Alex McPherson is stepping down as president and CEO of Biomira Inc. (TSX:BRA) after the anti-cancer drug company's annual meeting May 17.

McPherson joined the Edmonton company in 1991 as president and CEO.

The move comes a month after Biomira widened its losses in the fourth quarter and said it expects job cuts in the wake of the takeover of its key lung cancer treatment by German drug giant Merck KGaA.

Chief financial officer Edward Taylor will be interim president-CEO if the board of directors hasn't found a successor by the time McPherson leaves, the company said.

The Canadian Petroleum Institute (CPI) has named Gerrit Maureau as president and CEO. Maureau succeeds Craig McDonald, who held the position of interim president since November 2003.

Most recently, Maureau was president of MaurOil International Inc. He remains an active teacher in the areas of economics, geo-technical and economic/political risk.

CPI is an independent, not-for-profit training and advisory organization with an international clientele.

Patricia Newson will step down as CFO of AltaGas Income Trust effective May 1 to focus on her role as president and CEO of AltaGas Utility Group Inc.

Newson remains a senior vice-president of the trust (TSX: ALA.UN).

Richard Alexander joins the trust as senior VP of finance and CFO effective May 1. The trust says he has served in senior positions with a number of large oil and gas companies in Toronto and Calgary.

Calgary-based AltaGas Income Trust is an integrated energy infrastructure and services company. AltaGas spun out Utility Group in late 2005 as a separate entity in which the trust retains a 26.7-per-cent interest.

Michael Waites has resigned as executive VP and CFO of Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX, NYSE:CP) effective April 14. He is going to Finning International Inc. as its new CFO.

Brian Grassby will continue in his current roles as VP and comptroller as well as taking on responsibilities as acting CFO.

Based in Calgary, CPR is a transcontinental carrier operating in Canada and the U.S.
