Nortel Networks Corp. has made three appointments at the top.

Bill Owens moves from president and CEO to vice-chairman and CEO, while Gary Daichendt becomes president and chief operating officer. Daichendt was previously executive vice-president for worldwide operations at Cisco Systems.

Peter Currie, named chief financial officer last month, becomes executive vice-president and CFO.

Magna Entertainment Corp., North America's biggest owner of horse racetracks, has named Thomas Hodgson to replace Jim McAlpine as chief executive.

McAlpine will stay on as vice- chairman for corporate development, said Magna Entertainment (TSX:MEC.SV.A), which has its headquarters in Aurora.

Hodgson joined the board of directors of MI Developments Inc., MEC's parent company, in September 2004 and has been working as a consultant to MID (TSX:MIM.SV.A) with respect to Magna Entertainment.

He will step down from the MID board to join Magna Entertainment's.

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. has promoted five executives. Mike Cybulski becomes executive vice-president of operations for the automation systems group. Uwe Geissinger becomes VP of automation systems operations for Europe.

John Scott becomes vice-president for quality and strategic processes. Carl Galloway becomes vice- president treasurer and Mike Verhoeve vice-president general counsel.

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (TSX:ATA) designs and makes turnkey automated manufacturing and test systems.

Azcar Technologies Inc. has appointed Bill Crowther as chief operating officer. He has more than 25 years of business experience through exposure to a number of industry sectors.

Azcar (TSX:AZZ) is a technology integration company providing the broadcast and media technologies sector with consulting engineering and project management.

The Institute of Management Accountants has named Paul Sharman as president and CEO.

He has been interim executive director since January 2004. He was previously an independent cost and performance management consultant.

Peter Giacalone has been appointed president and CEO of 180 Connect Inc. (TSX: NCT.U).

Giacalone previously served as executive VP of customer satisfaction at DirecTV.

180 Connect Inc. provides installation services to the direct broadcast satellite and cable industries in the residential market from more than 100 operating locations.

Generex Biotechnology Corp. has appointed Roberto Cid as director of marketing and sales.

Cid is the president and founder of distributor PharmaBrand S.A. and manufacturer Farmacid S.A., both based in Quito, Ecuador.

Cid's primary responsibility will be to develop Generex's retail presence in South America for its flagship product Oral-lynT, an oral insulin.

Generex researches and develops drug-delivery systems.

Cervus Financial Group Inc. has named Murray Thomas as CFO, succeeding Howard Broughton, who continues as an adviser.

Thomas, a chartered accountant, joined the company as VP of finance last October. He was formerly CFO of Intrigue Technologies Inc., a private consumer electronic business.

Cervus (TSXV:CFG) is currently licensed in Ontario, Quebec, B.C. and Alberta under mortgage broker/lender legislation. Its head office is located in Toronto.

Host Canada Destination Management has named Patricia Nicholl as manager of business development. She will be responsible for securing new business from the United States. She has nearly two decades of hospitality and tourism marketing and sales experience.

Host is a full-service destination management firm.

Scott Nelson has been named president and CEO of Titanium Corp. Inc. (TSXV:TIC). He has more than 25 years of experience in resource-based companies.

Nelson replaces George Elliott, who has stepped down as president and CEO but will continue as executive chairman.

Titanium Corp. is focused on becoming the first titanium and zircon sand producer from Canada's oilsands.

Ron Osborne will succeed William Stinson as chairman of Sun Life Financial Inc. and Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada.

Osborne is expected to take on the role when Stinson ends his 20-year stint as a board member at Sun Life's annual meeting in May.

Osborne has been a director at the financial services company since 1989 and is currently chairman of the audit and conduct review committee, and a member of the management resources committee.

CML Healthcare Income Fund (TSX:CLC.UN) says Dr. John Mull, the founder of CMLHealthcare Inc., has advised the trustees that he intends to retire as chairman, president and CEO once a successor is appointed.

The fund is an unincorporated open-ended trust that owns 100 per cent of CML, which provides lab-testing services in Ontario and is the largest private provider of medical imaging services in Canada.

Fidelity Investments has named Robert Strickland as president of Fidelity Investments Canada Ltd.

Fidelity Investments Canada Ltd. is Canada's eighth-largest mutual fund company, managing more than $31 billion as of Dec. 31. Fidelity Investments is one of the largest mutual fund companies in the United States.

Orion Securities Inc. has named John Budreski as its new chief executive, the Toronto-based investment dealer said.

Budreski will also be CEO of another unit, Orion Financial. He has more than 18 years of industry experience and prior to joining Orion had worked with two major dealers in Calgary, New York and Toronto.
