Western Oil Sands Inc. has appointed James Houck to the position of president and CEO, effective April 15.

Most recently, Houck was a principal of FrontStreet Partners, a U.S.-based privately held energy merchant banking firm. He spent most of his career with ChevronTexaco and its predecessor, Texaco Inc.

The current president and CEO, Guy Turcotte, will assume the role of chairman of the board.

Western Oil Sands (WTO:TSX) is a Canadian oilsands corporation with a 20-per-cent interest in the Athabasca Oil Sands Project.

Calgary-based Manson Creek Resources Ltd. (TSXV:MCK) has named Regan Chernish as president.

Chernish has had an ongoing consulting role with Manson Creek since 2001 and has been a director of the corporation since 2002.

Manson Creek is an active explorer in British Columbia and the Yukon.

Winalta Inc.'s president and chief operating officer is leaving the company.

The Edmonton-based maker of modular homes said Blair Halliday will leave April 8. Halliday's jobs will be taken over for the time being by James Sapara, Winalta's chairman and CEO, the company said in a release.

No reasons were given for the change.

Through its subsidiary Vanguard Inc., Winalta (TSX:WTA.A) also manufactures motorized and non-motorized recreational vehicles.

Derek Krivak has joined Stealth Ventures Ltd. as vice-president of operations. Krivak recently was the project manager for the unconventional gas research group with Alberta Research Council Inc.

Calgary-based Stealth (TSXV:SLV) is gearing up for coalbed methane production in Nova Scotia.
