A Vancouver developer has won approval from Osoyoos town council for development of a four-storey, 153-suite beachside condominium resort on shores of Lake Osoyoos.

The Watermark Beach Resort is to be developed by Osoyoos Shoreline Development Ltd. on the site of the old packing house downtown. The plant was built in 1925, closed in 1988 and demolished in 2002. Amenities will include retail storefronts along Main Street's east downtown strip, a luxury restaurant, and a health club and spa, the company said in a release.

The development and design team includes Burrows Huggins Architects, Boutique Hotels of BC and Coordinated Hotel Interiors Ltd.
